Assassin's Creed has come an awfully long way over the last decade. With the introduction of Assassin's Creed Infinity, the world could go anywhere. Here's what you should know about Assassin's Creed in 2022.

Latest - New Smaller Assassin's Creed on the way

As reported by Bloomberg, the team behind Assassin's Creed have turned a new DLC into a smaller standalone game to fill out the release schedule.

This will either arrive this year or next.

More Valhalla DLC Coming

On top of what was already announced, Ubisoft has revealed that another Assassin's Creed Valhalla expansion is coming early in 2022.

Called Dawn of Ragnarok, the DLC will focus on Odin and see Eivor attempt to save Asgard.

It will release on March 10, 2022, with more information on it to be revealed before then. You can check out the trailer below:

It's not clear yet what this means for Assassin's Creed 2022.

Assassin's Creed Infinity Release Date

Assassin's Creed Infinity doesn't have a set release date yet but it seems likely that we will receive it in the latter half of 2022. We saw Origins come out two years after Syndicate. Odyssey then arrived a year later and Valhalla came two years after that.

Going off that habit, a release in November 2022 would make two years between Infinity and Valhalla. This all being said, Infinity seems to be a huge project so it could potentially be held back. Expect much more news over the coming months.

What Assassin's Creed 2022?

The next Assassin's Creed game is an ever-evolving game that ties in all previous titles. It will be a live service title meaning the game you see on launch will be hugely different to the one you will see a year later.

We don't know how this will work in practice but it seems likely it will have tonnes of DLC and perhaps the return of a multiplayer mode. We've seen tonnes of live service titles like Fortnite, Rocket League and Valorant but we haven't seen it for single-player franchises yet. We'll just have to wait until its launch to see it for ourselves.

It won't be free to play?

Despite what you might have thought, it seems the game will not be free to play. Generally, live service games tend to be free so they can acquire a huge player base before adding DLC or skins that can be bought.

Without this model, it's unsure how monetisation will work in Infinity. It could be a huge title with separate bits of DLC and monthly updates. We'll update you right here over the next year as soon as that information comes out.

Download Size

Because this game seems to be so huge, it's hard to tell how big it will be. It seems likely it could make its way all the way up to 100GB in size and may need the powerful SSD of current gen consoles to run. For this reason, I doubt the Xbox One and PS4 could run the game. Hopefully, we're wrong with this assumption.
