We know the next Cyberpunk 2077 update is on the way - that was confirmed during the CD Projekt Red Q3 2021 Earnings Call - but there are still a lot of things being talked about when it comes to specifics. Here's everything we know about Patch 1.5, the new update due for Cyberpunk 2077, and when it's due to arrive.

LATEST - Are the recent leaks really reliable?

Earlier this week, a Reddit thread allegedly explaining what's coming to Cyberpunk 2077 in the next major title update appeared - and it was very exciting.

It's worth taking all of this with a pinch of salt, as CDPR's Global PR Director has commented on the leak with the suggestion that things don't add up - you can check that out here - but there's a lot of exciting things in here.

  • Patch 1.5 will be a soft re-launch for the title and release alongside the next-gen update;
  • Patch 1.5 will also change Cyberpunk 2077's name to Cyberpunk 2077: Samurai Edition;
  • Barbershops, a Garage, improved AI behaviours, a transmog system, a rebalanced loot system, and a new UI system are all due to be shipped with the next title update;
  • Free DLC updates will be announced and released after;
    • These will include new weapons, New Game Plus, new in-game activities, and Apartment Customisation options;
  • Character interactions with prominent secondary characters, like Judy and Panam, will be more frequent;

A lot of the content discussed above has been data-mined from Cyberpunk 2077's files, but we're not sure whether this is all going to arrive in the next title update. Keep an eye on the official social media channels for more information.

LOOK AHEAD: Players have been waiting a long time for the next major Cyberpunk update

While we don't have any more specificity than that just yet, we would expect it to come later in the Quarter around March based on the game's current trajectory.

Patch Notes

After a long time of relative silence around Cyberpunk 2077 - what will Update 1.5 bring to the game that will bring players back for another go?

While we have no official details on what may land in the Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 patch notes, we can only hope some of the community's loudest requests make the cut.

With that, here are our hopes for some Cyberpunk 2077 features we could see in the new year.

More Life to Night City

Many players came to Cyberpunk 2077 with the promise of an open-world experience that responds to players' actions. A world that lives and breathes on its own as players progress through the main story or take a diversion to hit side quests and explore.

LEVEL UP: Night City was what drew many players to Cyberpunk, but it's lacking in several areas

Instead, the open world and community aspects of Night City were perhaps the most universally critiqued part of Cyberpunk 2077. With so little meaning to the few characters you do see around Night City in-between jobs and missions, Night City can at times feel more like a ghost town.

With more unique characters, random events, and meaningful NPCs walking the streets of Night City, the game will be all the better for it.

More Character Customization Options

The first laugh many players got when playing Cyberpunk 2077 on launch was getting to the character creation screen and finding that CDPR pulled no punches on what exactly you can customize.

But while these sometimes hilarious customization options felt deep at first, as the game progresses, players have little option to change the character they've made. In a world filled with body modifications and dangerous combat, this doesn't exactly match up.

Expanding on Cyberpunk 2077 character customization options after the start of the game with body modifications, plastic surgery options and more would add new depth and immersion to the game that's sorely needed.

Vehicle Customization & Expansion

Cyberpunk 2077 had a ton of promise around vehicles with tons of tech to play with and several vehicle classes to separate their purposes and stats.

LEVEL UP: Night City was what drew many players to Cyberpunk, but it's lacking in several areas

In the end, however, a lack of customization and diversity in these classes has resulted in Cyberpunk's vehicles feeling mediocre in the end.

Adding new car customization options like body and paint shops along with more stat differentials and car missions would be a great way to put the importance back on the game's vehicles.

Finish Off the Biggest Remaining Bugs

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the buggiest games of all time on its launch day. And while many Cyberpunk updates since then targeted the problem, none have truly cleaned the game up in the way players had hoped.

Whether it's the seemingly endless amount of vehicle AI issues or enemies/NPCs breaking entirely, Cyberpunk still needs a thorough bug cleaning before it will bring spurned players back to Night City again.
