The Root of Nightmares has been revealed to be Destiny 2: Lightfall's first raid.

The new raid will seemingly have Guardians traverse through The Witness' Pyramid ship, taking on unsuspected foes. Additionally, after much rumor and rabble-rousing, one of Destiny 2's more mysterious characters, Nezarec, might be making their first appearance there.

When does The Root of Nightmares raid release in Destiny 2?

Similar to other raid releases in Destiny 2 in the past, The Root of Nightmares raid will be opening on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. EST.

  • Europe: Friday, March 10, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. CET

The raid's description, according to Bungie's announcement on Twitter, reads as follows, "Ferried from an unknown time and place, a haunting presence has been detected. We must now confront the ancient threat growing at our doorstep."

In the tweet, players can see a Fireteam of six Guardians standing inside said Pyramid, as the structure is overrun with unknown flora, a flora that was initially shown off in the recently released Lightfall launch trailer.
