Making its first appearance in Season 20 or Season of Defiance, this is the one PvP event all Guardians look forward to. Iron Banner has been a Destiny staple dating back to the game's original release and undergoes constant changes each season.

That being said - When is Iron Banner in Destiny 2 Season 20? Here's what you need to know.

When is Iron Banner in Destiny 2 Season 20?

In the past, Iron Banner used to appear on a monthly basis, overlapping with other popular events. Later on, the appearance of the PvP event shifted over to twice a season in Season 19. WHAT GAME MODE: Iron Banner has a specific mode each Season

In the beginning, Iron Banner centered around Rift, a Destiny 1 mode that had players score a Spark in the enemy goal. After that, in Season of Plunder, that shifted over to Eruption. In Eruption, players grow in power upon getting kills, entering a "Prime" state whereupon kills grant additional points but destroy the Guardian after 15 seconds.

Lastly, in Season of the Seraph, players got to participate in a new mode called Fortress. Different than the other Crucible modes before it, Fortress plays a lot like a round of Control, however, there's a small difference.

Upon reaching 40 and later on 80 points, all of the capture points close, opening up a single capture point guarded by three Scorpius turrets. In order to capture the point players had to defeat all of the turrets. Upon defeating the turrets, players can claim the point and earn points faster.

Once the point is done, Fortress goes back to a standard Control game mode.
