FIFA 17: Team of the Week 51 (TOTW) Predictions

The international break seems to be more and more frustrating for football fans, especially when a round of fixtures come so soon into the start of the season. Thankfully, an international break sees no rest-bite for our Ultimate Team of the Week, and things are winding down with some sides guaranteeing their place at the World Cup in Russia this past week. We run you through our predictions for the latest Team of the Week.

Fernando Muslera (OVR 83 > 84)

Uruguay picked up a crucial point in South American qualifying, holding Argentina to a 0-0 draw in Montevideo. The result means Uruguay remain in the automatic qualification spot, whilst Lionel Messi’s Argentina are currently set for the play-offs. In a close encounter, Argentina were perhaps slightly the better side, but three big saves from Galatasaray ‘keeper Fernando Muslera meant the points were shared. His 83 rating could hop up to 84 this week, and he is currently very affordable costing around the 1,000-coin mark on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Thomas Meunier (OVR 77 > 83)

When was the last time a defender scored a hat-trick? Not only did the PSG man net three times for Belgium against Gibraltar, but he also notched up a further two assists. Playing as a right-wing-back against a very weak side, Meunier had the licence to get forward and boy did he take it. Meunier will cost you under 1,000 coins on PS4 but closer to 1,500 on XB1.

Mats Hummels (OVR 87 > 90)

Centre back Mats Hummels scored the winner for Germany as they just about managed to edge out the Czech Republic 2-1. The Bayern man nodded home Toni Kroos’ free kick to cement the World Champions place at the top of Group C, with a five-point gap with three games to play. Hummels has already chalked up two TOTW cards on FIFA 17 so he could jump up to 90 this week. He currently costs 11,500 coins on PS4 and as much as 13,250 on XB1.

Andrew Robertson (OVR 75 > 78)

Scotland international Andrew Robertson has had to wait patiently at Liverpool for his opportunity since his summer move from Hull, but he showed his class on the international stage. He grabbed the Scots second with a beautiful curling effort in the 3-0 triumph over Lithuania, keeping their World Cup hopes in the balance. The left back could improve to around 78 this week, and he is an absolute bargain on Ultimate Team for less than 1,000 coins.

Davy Propper (OVR 78 > 80)

New Brighton man Davy Propper gave the Dutch a much-needed boost, netting twice in their 3-1 win over Bulgaria. The win narrows the gap between them and second placed side Sweden with just two games to go, and who they face in the final round of qualifiers in October. Central midfielder Propper could improve to an 80-rated card this week, and he will only set you back 500 coins on PS4, but up to 2,000 on XB1.

Alexander Ring (OVR 70 > 73)

Despite already being eliminated from qualifying for Russia 2018, Finland picked up a shock 1-0 victory over Euro 2016 heroes Iceland. The Finns have star man Alexander Ring to thank, with the New York City man bagging a fine free-kick to claim a 1-0 win, denting Iceland’s World Cup hopes. The central midfielder can cost anything from 1,500 to 5,000 coins on both consoles after his performance, which could see his rating increased to 73.

Isco (OVR 84 > 91)

When he’s up for it, Isco is unstoppable. He was at his mercurial best one again as Spain picked up a 3-0 victory over Group G rivals Italy, and moving ahead of them at the top of the group. The Real Madrid man whipped a free-kick into the top left corner before cutting inside onto his left foot and sticking one in the bottom right corner later in the first half. Due to the amount of in form cards he has received in FIFA 17, another one will see Isco improve to at least 91, and he currently costs 4,700 coins on PS4 and 4,200 on XB1.

Philippe Coutinho (OVR 86 > 90)

He’s been in the headlines after being coveted by Barcelona, but the Liverpool star showed his class grabbing the second Brazil goal in the 2-0 win over Ecuador. The victory secured a first-place finish for Brazil, 11 points ahead of the rest of the pack. Coutinho poked home Gabriel Jesus’s knockdown, which could see his rating jump way up to 90 this week. His 86-rated left wing card will cost just shy of 15,000 coins on both consoles.

Thomas Lemar (OVR 80 > 87)

On the day he was subject to a move to Arsenal, Thomas Lemar perhaps improved his transfer value with a brace against the Netherlands for France. The Monaco man first smashed one from the edge of the box with his left foot before tapping the ball into the empty net to grab France’s third. The left midfielder would improve to at least 87 if he made another TOTW due to three appearances already in FIFA 17. He currently costs 1,500 coins on both consoles.

Romelu Lukaku (OVR 84 > 90)

Belgian front man Romelu Lukaku netted four goals this week, joining Thomas Meunier by hitting a hat-trick against Gibraltar, and then adding another in the 2-1 win over Greece. That second victory meant that Belgium were the first European side to qualify for the World Cup finals, with Lukaku netting ten times in eight matches. The new Manchester United number nine could improve into the 90s this week, and he costs up to 9,500 coins on PS4 and up to 17,000 on XB1.

Cristiano Ronaldo (OVR 94 > 98)

With FIFA 18 on the horizon, it would be appropriate for the new cover star to be in form when the game is released. Cristiano Ronaldo chalked up yet another hat-trick, and scored ‘the goal that was missing’ from his career, a bicycle kick. The Real Madrid star barely broke a sweat during the 5-1 win over the Faroe Islands, but the Portuguese are still three points behind Switzerland in Group B with just two matches to play. They will meet in Lisbon on October 10th to see who goes through to Russia.
