FIFA 19: Arsenal Player Ratings

This season Arsenal did something they haven’t done in 22 years, start the campaign without Arsene Wenger. Arsenal will look to build momentum from last year and elevate themselves into a top four place with Unai Emery at the helm.

Arsenal’s attack is where they are strongest with the likes of Mesut Özil, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the line but they lack the same level of class in other areas of the park. A defence and midfield where the puzzle pieces are not set may restrict them from being considered in the top tier anymore.

Arsenal have a 4.5 star rating with 84 attack, 83 midfield and 81 defence.

Bernd Leno (84)

expand image

Age: 26

Position: GK

Country: Germany

Making a move outside of Germany for the first time in his career, Bernd Leno made the summer move from Bayer 04 Leverkusen to Arsenal. Brought in to replace an ageing Petr Cech, Bernd Leno is only 26 and should have many successful years ahead of him. Last season in the Bundesliga he kept ten clean sheets and averaged 2.1 saves a game. Leno has dropped a single over point from 85 to 84 coming into FIFA 19.

Hector Bellerin (80)

Age: 23

Position: RB, RWB

Country: Spain

A stagnating overall for Hector Bellerin in FIFA 19 from last year's game, he's a typical modern day full back who’s pace going forward supersedes his defensive acumen. Last season he touched the ball the second most behind midfielder Granit Xhaka, showing his influence on the game with the ball even at the right back position.

Shkodran Mustafi (82)

Age: 26

Position: CB

Country: Germany

A decrease in Shkodran Mustafi's rating may be related to Arsenal’s defensive frailties in the last couple of years. On the pitch he made the second most tackles for Arsenal last season and led the team in clearances. Still relatively young for a centre back, Shkodran Mustafi has the potential going forward to establish himself as an upper echelon defender on the world stage.

Sokratis (84)

Age: 30

Position: CB

Country: Greece

Another of Arsenal’s Bundesliga transfers, Sokratis comes to Arsenal from a Borussia Dortmund side who struggled in the league last season. He made the sixth most tackles in the Bundesliga amongst centre backs and will look for form a formidable partnership with Mustafi this season.

Nacho Monreal (80)

Age: 32

Position: LB, CB

Country: Spain

Monreal is the other type of fullback that is developing. Not the full back that acts a wing back, but a fullback who has adapted to playing centre back. Monreal scored five goals in the league last season and kept ten clean sheets across 28 appearances. On the wrong side of thirty, he’ll be using his intelligence and experience to deal with the more physically adapt attacking threats increasingly this season.

Lucas Torreira (78)

Age: 22

Position: CM, CDM

Country: Uruguay

A move from Sampdoria in Serie A to Arsenal over the summer for a reported €30m, Lucas Torreira is a defensive midfielder who may not be a statistical phenomenon but will hopefully provide stability in front of the defence that Arsenal have been looking for.

Aaron Ramsey (82)

Age: 27

Position: CM, CDM, CAM

Country: Wales

The Welsh international has struggled with varying injuries in recent years but when he’s in form, his talent on the pitch is evident. His FIFA 19 rating hasn’t changed from last year's game but a full season healthy should help his cause. Aaron Ramsey is a well balanced midfielder whose got stamina for days.

Granit Xhaka (81)

expand image

Age: 25

Position: CM, CDM

Country: Switzerland

Granit Xhaka completed nearly twice as many passes as any other Arsenal player in the league last season. He’s at the centre of Arsenal’s midfield and provides some hard-nosed, no nonsense presence in the middle of the park. His aggression is admirable, but it did lead to ten yellow cards last season, the second highest in the league.

Mesut Özil (86)

Age: 29

Position: CAM, RW, RM

Country: Germany

One could make the argument that Mesut Özil’s best seasons are behind him and may question his effort and commitment to Arsenal and the stats may back that up, but his class on the pitch is still very much evident. At times he looks like a wizard on the ball seeing passes that no-one else sees and hopefully a full season with two top strikers will raise a stagnated overall from last year.

Alexandre Lacazette (84)

expand image

Age: 27

Positions: ST

Country: France

When Alexandre Lacazette scored a bullet header for Arsenal on his debut last season, the legacy was already being talked about. However, he hasn’t lived up to expectation. With a full season under his belt though, he’ll look to hit the ground running in his second season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (87)

expand image

Age: 29

Position: ST

Country: Gabon

Arriving in January 2018, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a very strong finish to the season and will look to continue that form coming into this season. In his last full season at Dortmund he scored 31 goals in 32 games and if he can score close to that this season, Arsenal will be a dominate force going forward. Aubameyang’s pace is blistering combined with an evident eye for goal.
