FIFA 20: Bayern Munich player ratings predictions - Coutinho, Lewandowski, Neuer & more

Just two points separated Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund last season, and finally the champions have made more moves in the transfer window, having gone five months without any new first team signings.

Philippe Coutinho has joined the eight-times defending champions on loan, after a summer spending spree at Dortmund had Munich fans worried.

Experienced centre back Mats Hummels has moved back to former club Dortmund but has been replaced by £100 million worth of defenders in Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez. Highly rated teenage forward Jann-Fiete Arp has arrived from Hamburg although is unlikely to be a regular in the first team behind Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski.

With much change expected at the Bundesliga champions, here is how we think Bayern will line up on FIFA 20.

Manuel Neuer (OVR 90 - 88)

Position: GK

Age: 33

Country: Germany

Manuel Neuer has been one of the top goalkeepers in the world for a long time but has been on the decline in recent years. The 33-year-old is likely to drop down to an 88 overall, with the German shot-stopper keeping 11 clean sheets in his 26 league appearances as injury again hampered his season.

Joshua Kimmich (OVR 86 - 86)

Position: RB, CM, CDM

Age: 24

Country: Germany

Versatile right back Joshua Kimmich has proven to be a consistent performer whether it is in defence or midfield. The German international provided 19 assists across all competitions and will play a key role as Bayern look to fend off Borussia Dortmund once more. Kimmich will keep his 86 OVR on FIFA 20 as he is a top quality player, and could even rise as becomes a key member of the dressing room.

Niklas Sule (OVR 84 - 85)

Position: CB

Age: 23

Country: Germany

Giant German defender Niklas Sule managed 42 appearances in all competitions, adding two goals along the way. The 6'5" Bayern centre half has shown his quality since joining the German champions and will continue his development with an upgrade to his 84 overall expected on FIFA 20.

Jerome Boateng (OVR 86 - 84)

Position: CB

Age: 30

Country: Germany

Following a shaky World Cup in 2018, Jerome Boateng played second fiddle to Niklas Sule and Mats Hummels last season. With the latter now departed, Boateng is in pole position to regain a starting berth although he will be put under pressure by arrivals Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez, who can both play at full back or centre half. Boateng will see his overall drop but could be in danger of a further downgrade if he starts the season poorly.

David Alaba (OVR 85 - 85)

Position: LB, CB

Age: 27

Country: Austria

Similar to Joshua Kimmich, David Alaba is a versatile player who has played across the defence and in midfield. The Austrian defender possesses great quality on the ball and provided seven assists for his team mates last season. Alaba's 85 overall will not change on FIFA 20 as he continues to play a major role for Bayern.

Leon Goretzka (OVR 83 - 84)

Position: CM, CAM, CDM

Age: 23

Country: Germany

With fierce competition for places in midfield, all-action midfielder Leon Goretzka should partner Thiago in midfield for Bayern next season. Bayern's preference of two midfielders with Thomas Muller in front of them suggests Javi Martinez may not be first choice as he is typically suited to a holding role. Goretzka will be upgraded to 84 OVR for now, but an impressive early season could see the 23-year-old given an early update on FIFA 20.

Thiago (OVR 87 - 87)

Position: CM, CAM, CDM

Age: 28

Country: Spain

Bayern's standout midfielder, Thiago has become one of Europe's top midfielders since leaving Barcelona for the Bundesliga. Thiago will start in midfield next season, but it remains to be seen who plays alongside him. The Spaniard received a mid-season upgrade on FIFA 19 and will keep his 87 OVR on FIFA 20.

Serge Gnabry (OVR 82 - 84)

Position: RM, LM, RW, LW

Age: 23

Country: Germany

Once dubbed not good enough for West Brom, Bayern's Player of the Season Serge Gnabry showed what he is capable of last season. The German international winger will want to build on his breakthrough campaign and has the potential to be a world class attacking threat. Gnabry will see an increase to 84 overall on FIFA 20 after his impressive season for club and country.

Thomas Muller (OVR 86 - 86)

Position: CF, CAM, RM, RW

Age: 29

Country: Germany

Consistent and hard-working, Thomas Muller is as ungainly as he is effective. His low socks and animated character all contrast to his efficiency on the pitch. Muller had an underwhelming season by his standards, registering just six Bundesliga goals as he moved into a deeper position. His 86 overall is in jeopardy after being told by Joachim Low he is no longer being considered for the German national team.

Philippe Coutinho (OVR 88 - 86)

Position: LW, CM, CAM

Age: 27

Country: Brazil

11 goals and 5 assists in 54 games for Barcelona, one of the best teams in the world, is frankly not very good at all. With this in mind, RealSport have predicted that his base card will fall from his current rating of 88 to 86. However, we also believe that Philippe Coutinho is one to watch with his new signing for Bayern Munich. Keep an eye out because this card could soon rise in the new FIFA 20.

Robert Lewandowski (OVR 90 - 90)

Position: ST

Age: 30

Country: Poland

40 goals in 47 games show another prolific return for Polish hitman Robert Lewandowski. Any potential move to Real Madrid looks to have been scuppered by their signing of Luka Jovic which is good news for Bayern fans as they will keep one of the world's deadliest strikers. Lewandowski will keep his place among the game's top players with his 90 overall on FIFA 20.

On the Bench

Experienced goalkeeper Sven Ulreich (OVR 80 - 80) will continue as Manuel Neuer’s deputy and is unlikely to see his overall change on FIFA 20. Youngster Christian Fruchtl (OVR 65 - 67) any first team action despite his potential and could be a candidate for a loan spell away from the club.

The additions of Lucas Hernandez (OVR 83 - 84) and Benjamin Pavard (OVR 80 - 82) are good business from Bayern with both players capable of playing centrally and at full back.

There is plenty of competition for places in midfield with Goretzka set to battle Corentin Tolisso (OVR 83 - 83) and Javi Martinez (OVR 84 - 83) to partner Thiago in central midfield. Forgotten man Renato Sanches (OVR 75 - 78) could see a slight improvement to his OVR on FIFA 20, although it is more likely he will ply his trade elsewhere as he struggles to break into Bayern's squad.

Rapid youngster Alphonso Davies (OVR 72 - 75) provides pace and trickery from the bench the club have also been heavily linked with Leroy Sane who would be an excellent attacking asset to their squad.

Jann-Fiete Arp (OVR 69 - 71) will also see an upgrade following his arrival at Bayern, the 19-year-old should be bumped up into the 70s on FIFA 20 and will play a supporting role to the two experienced forwards in the starting XI.
