FIFA 20: MLS Player of the Month Prediction October (POTM) - Vela, Lodeiro, Pozuelo & more

It’s the business end of the season in the States as the MLS Conference Finals are in full swing, with teams competing to be crowned the 2019 MLS Champions.

The Champions wont be either of the Conference winners though, as Eastern winners NYCFC crashed out at the semi-final stage to Toronto, whilst Western leaders LAFC were knocked out in last nights Conference Final against Seattle.

The knockout nature of the past month has meant that not all players have played the same amount of matches, with a maximum of just three games for any one player.

Here is our list of the top performers in October and those who we think should be in with a shout for the Player of the Month (POTM) award.

Carlos Vela (OVR 83 - POTM 87)

The winner of last month's POTM award is in contention for back to back awards after another fine four weeks for LAFC.

The Mexican scored five goals in three knockout fixtures for LA to help the new franchise to the Conference finals, where they fell short against the Seattle Sounders.

A hat-trick against the Colorado Rapids and two goals against fierce rivals LA Galaxy in a 5-3 thriller makes Vela one of the favourites for the award once again.

Nicolas Lodeiro (OVR 78 - POTM 83)

Lodeiro had a direct contribtuion to half of the Sounders 10 goals in October, with two goals and three assists, as they booked their place in the MLS Cup for the third time.

2017 Champions Toronto FC will be looking to reclaim their crown, having made it all the way to the MLS Cup final.

A large part of that was down to Spaniard Pozuelo, who picked up three goals and two assists in three appearances in October - these include both goals in the semi-final win at NYCFC and the assist for DeLeon's stunning winner against Atlanta.

As is the case with most base cards in the MLS, you can pick up Pozuelo for next to nothing, just 800 coins on both platforms.

The 2017 Rookie of the Year’s base card is a non-rare silver at 73 overall. It’s safe to say that he won’t be featuring in many FUT side’s without a POTM card - although with a boost to 78 overall, he may become an option.

Jordan Morris (OVR 71 - POTM 78)

The last name to make the list is yet another Seattle Sounders man - hat-trick hero Jordan Morris.

Morris featured in three games for Seattle last month, but it was his display in the win over FC Dallas which has seen him find his way onto the shortlist. With the game locked at 3-3 and heading towards penalties, Morris fired home in the 113th minute to send the Sounders through.

Another MLS man with a silver base card, Morris is just a 71 overall. However with 86 pace and 77 physical to his name already, a POTM card which will undoubtedly be cheap, may be worth investing in as a super sub.
