FIFA 20: Norwich City player ratings predictions

Norwich City upset the odds last season as they finished top of the Championship to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

The Canaries drew praise from critics all over the world thanks to their attractive, attacking style of football that German head coach Daniel Farke brought to the club when he moved from Borussia Dortmund's B team back in 2017.

They have been active in the transfer market as they look to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League, but how are their ratings likely to change following promotion?

Position: GK

Age: 30

Country: Germany

Norwich made a statement of intent early in the summer transfer window when they wrapped up the loan signing of Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann. The 30-year-old German has made over 200 appearances for the Bundeslia side and will be vital to Norwich's survival this season. He will likely receive a small decrease to his 83 overall from FIFA 19, dropping to 82 on FIFA 20.

Max Aarons (OVR 58 - 72)

Position: RB

Age: 19

County: England

Max Aarons breakthrough year was one of the highlights of the Championship last season. The 19-year-old made 41 appearances for the club and earned himself a place in the PFA Championship team of the season and the coveted EFL Young Player of the Season award.

We expect he will receive a huge boost to his 58 overall from FIFA 19. Expect a top end silver card, we predict a 72 overall.

Grant Hanley (OVR 72 - 71)

Position: CB

Age: 26

Country: Scotland

Club captain and Scotland international Grant Hanley suffered a disappointing season for the Canaries last season, missing out on much of the campaign through injury. He returned from injury towards the back end of the season and will hope to see more playing time this season. His lack of game time will probably see his rating drop, we see him as a 71 overall.

Christoph Zimmermann (OVR 71 - 73)

Position: CB

Age: 25

The 6'4 German was a stalwart for the Canaries last season, as he captained the side to their first Championship title in over a decade. He made 45 appearances in all competitions, scoring three times. He will receive a boost to his 71 overall from FIFA 19, we have him as a 73 overall.

Like his teammate Aarons, Northern Irish youngster Max Lewis also had an incredibly successful breakthrough season for the Yellows last season. Lewis appeared 43 times in all competitions and also found himself in the PFA Championship Team of the Season.

He will receive a large boost to his rating. Jumping from a 66 to a 71 overall.

Position: CDM, CB

Age: 26

Country: France

Another of Farke's summer reinforcements, Seville midfielder Ibrahim Amadou has joined the Canaries on loan for the season with an option to buy. The six foot Frenchman can also play centre back and is sure to be a solid addition to the side for the upcoming season. He shouldn't see much change to his FIFA 19 rating, if any. A 75 overall seems fair.

Mario Vrancic (OVR 71 - 72)

Position: CM

Age: 29

Country: Bosnia

Bosnian Mario Vrancic enjoyed a successful season for the Canaries last term. Appearing 36 times and registering 10 goals and 7 assists, including the winner against Blackburn Rovers which sealed Norwich's promotion. His rating should increase slightly to a 72 overall.

Patrick Roberts (OVR 74 - 74)

Position: RM

Age: 22

Country: England

England youngster Patrick Roberts has seen his career stall somewhat since his move to Manchester City back in 2015. He struggled for game time at the Premier League champions and spent two seasons on loan at Celtic before a further loan spell with Spanish side Girona.

Roberts will hope that this loan spell will be his last, as he looks to make an impact in the Premier League with the Canaries. His rating shouldn't change from the 74 he received on FIFA 19.

Onel Hernandez (OVR 70 - 73)

Position: LM

Age: 25

Country: Germany

German winger Onel Hernandez had a fine first season for the Yellow's following his summer move from Eintracht Braunschweig, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists in 40 games. As a result, the 25-year-old should see his rating jump from a 70 to a 73.

Josip Drmic (OVR 75 - 75)

Position: ST

Age: 26

Country: Switzerland

Norwich brought 26-year-old Josip Drmic in on a free transfer earlier in the summer following his release from German side Borrusia Monchengladbach. The Swiss international is a proven goalscorer but has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons. Farke will be hoping the forward can stay fit and fire in the goals to keep the Canaries in the Premier League.

His overall rating is likely to stay as a 75 overall.

Teemu Pukki (OVR 71 - 76)

Position: ST

Age: 28

Country: Finland

Pukki enjoyed the finest season of his career to date for Norwich last season, scoring 29 goals in his debut season for the club. He featured in the PFA Championship Team of the Season whilst also winning the individual award for Championship Player of the Season. His goals will be key to any Canaries success this season.

He is another player due for a big upgrade. We believe he will be a low end gold card of 76 overall at least.

On the bench

Veteran goalkeeper Tim Krul (OVR 75 - 75) will provide competition between the sticks for Fahrmann.

New signing Sam Byram (OVR 72 - 74) will provide back up out wide, whilst centre backs Ben Godfrey (OVR 66-69) and Tim Klose (OVR 74 - 75) will look to take advantage when they are handed game time.

Midfield trio Kenny McLean (OVR 71 - 72) and Tom Trybull (OVR 72 - 73) will offer defensive reinforcements in the middle of the park, whilst Marco Stiepermann (OVR 69 - 72) will be sure to provide a creative spark off the bench.

Meanwhile, wide-man Emiliano Buendia (OVR 71 - 74) is another player who will look to chip in with goals and assists when called upon.
