FIFA 21 ICON Swaps: Golden Goal affected as EA change requirements

The latest set of ICON Swaps have finally arrived, and it's disappointed FIFA fans.

The new requirements focus heavily on offline mode Squad Battles, with the FUT Friendly requirements changed from wins, to completed matches.

Here's what's new.

Golden Goal

It was an unofficial rule that was created by the FIFA community, to use the Golden Goal feature when attempting to pick up ICON Swap Tokens.

When coming up against another player in the FUT Friendlies mode, you would treat the game as if it was Golden Goal, with the first to concede pausing the game and forfeiting.

This meant that players could unlock there ICON Swaps much faster than in previous years, as games would only last 1/2 minutes as opposed to 12.

This won't be the case in Season 3.

Squad Battles

There are 10 new ICON Swaps tokens to unlock in total, with 5 of the 10 requiring wins within the offline mode, Squad Battles.

Now there is no way to 'fast track' this, as the computer isn't going to quit.

The games shouldn't be too difficult to win, but it will be very time consuming to say the least.

You'll have to complete a minimum of 30 games in order to unlock the five tokens, which works out at around six hours of gameplay.

FUT Friendlies

Four of the five objectives do focus on FUT Friendlies, but only two of them will work with the 'Golden Goal' mantra.

The other three require a minimum number of goals and assists too, which means you'll have to complete games that you are losing in order for the goals score to count.

Who knows, the community might pull together and stick with the same mindset, but it's going to be much more difficult this time around.
