FIFA 22 AC Milan Career Mode Guide: Starting lineup and who to sign

AC Milan is one of the biggest clubs in Europe, but it's been a downward spiral for the Italian giants over the past several seasons.

So, have you got what it takes to rebuild the great team that once was and challenge for major trophies in FIFA 22 Career Mode?

Team Rating

AC Milan has a 4.5-star rating in FIFA 22.

The breakdown of the ratings is as follows: ATT 78, MID 79, DEF 81.

Starting Lineup and Formation

The 4-2-3-1 formation is most suitable for AC Milan to get the most out of their forwards whilst remaining defensively stable at the back.

The wide or narrow variation can be used depending on your own personal preference.

Starting with the striker and icon that is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish legend is still going strong at the age of 40, with an 83-rated card in FIFA 22.

SOLID SYSTEM - You can't go wrong with the 4-2-3-1 formation

The three players who will hopefully be creating the chances for Ibra are Ante Rebic, Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelemaekers.

Giving the team defensive stability in midfield are the two ball-winning machines, Franck Kessie and Sandro Tonali.

In the full-back positions, we've gone for Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria, whilst Fikayo Tomori partners Simon Kjaer in central defence.

Mike Maignan is the man between the sticks.

Tactics and Instructions

With captain Zlatan getting on a bit and having just 51 stamina, we don't want him working too hard off the ball.

So, instruct the striker to Stay Forward and Stay Central to give him the best possible chance of a sight at goal.

Left-back Theo Hernandez is great going forward and is the more attacking of the two full-backs, so instruct the France international to Overlap, whilst keeping Davide Calabria on Stay Back While Attacking.

Make sure you instruct your two defensive midfielders to Cover Centre and Stay Back While Attacking, or you may leave yourself vulnerable to the counter attack.

Development Plans

When it comes to developing youngsters, it's difficult to know where to start with this AC Milan squad which is packed full of high-potential players.

Mike Maignan (POT 89) is a ready-made 'keeper who can become one of the world's best at his peak.

Theo Hernandez (POT 90), Sandro Tonali (POT 87) and Fikayo Tomori (POT 86) can be transformed into a world-class trio in just a few seasons time.

We would suggest switching Rafael Leao (POT 85) to an ST as a long-term replacement for the ageing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud.

Starting budget: £32 million

Who should go?

There's a fair bit of deadwood to be cleared out when it comes to this AC Milan squad.

Alessio Romagnoli (OVR 82), Olivier Giroud (OVR 79), Rade Krunic (OVR 75) and Samuel Castillejo (OVR 77) can all go to free up some funds for new signings.

We would also be tempted to let Simon Kjaer (OVR 84) leave too, as he will sell for over €30 million and can be replaced with a top-class centre-back.

Loans

Pierre Kalulu (POT 83) is one of the most promising youngsters on the books who isn't near the first team at the moment, so a loan spell early on could do him the world of good.

Matteo Gabbia (POT 81), Alessandro Plizzari (POT 79) and Fode Ballo-Toure (POT 76) are all promising young players who could be Serie A quality in the future.

AC Milan already has several players out on loan too, with Yacine Adli (POT 81) and Tommaso Pobega (POT 80) the ones to keep an eye on.

Who to sign?

One of the main targets you should look to sign on a permanent contract is Brahim Diaz (POT 87) who is currently on loan from Real Madrid.

The number 10 will cost around €30-40 million to sign on a permanent transfer.

As mentioned before, the other main area where AC Milan needs strengthening is in the centre-back position.

Simon Kjaer can be replaced by a younger, more 'meta' player in FIFA 22 who can develop into a world-class defender alongside Tomori.

Edmond Tapsoba (OVR 81) is our favourite to buy at centre-half, he's a little pricey but will be worth every penny if you can find the cash.

Another are where AC Milan is short is in the striker role, where both Ibrahimovic and Giroud are ageing.

Alexander Isak would be our choice to replace the two veterans up top.

HIGH HOPES - The AC Milan board demand success

The board also have assigned high priority to Domestic Success and Continental Success, so it's important you are performing at the highest level.

The Financial targets are a medium priority, so you don't need to stress too much about this, while the Youth Development is even less important at low priority.
