New commentator reportedly arriving for FIFA 22

Following the Madden 22 reveal, a FIFA 22 announcement can only be a few weeks away - and there are reports suggesting that a new commentator is going to be added to the line-up of the EA release.

An Arsenal and England legend - with over 140 international caps to their name.

Game changer

The reported arrival is current BBC and Sky Sports pundit - and future presenter of Football Focus - Alex Scott.

As you can see from the above, this was reported by FUTZone - and they do not give a source for this leak.

Alex Scot has been a regular on TV screens in recent years, starting with Match of the Day Kickabout, adn then becoming the first female pundit at a World Cup for the BBC in 2018.

After doing more work for the BBC, she became the first female pundit to on Sky Spots, before co-hosting Goals on Sunday, and then in 2020 hosted BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

Could it be true?

Given that Scott is a familiar face in the UK now, it's certainly believable - but she hasn't actually done much live commentating on games.

AU REVOIR - Alan Smith and Martin Tyler were axed for FIFA 21

Perhaps she could be part of the alternative commentary for women's matches, with EA going down to just one commentary team for FIFA 21 - Derek Rae and Lee Dixon, taking the "full-time" position from Martin Tyler and Alan Smith.

A FIFA 22 reveal can't be too far away - especially with EA Play Live now just one month away.

There are reports that the FIFA 22 Beta is live - which could explain why fans could know who the new commentators are.

Mixing it up

FIFA 22 definitely needs a change-up in commentary with FIFA 21 just having the one commentary team for the first time since FIFA 11.

COME BACK TIME - Gary Neville has not been seen in FUT since FIFA 17

Whether Alex Scott will be a one-off arrival or will arrive alongside a fellow BBC commentators like Jonathan Pearce, or a return of Martin Tyler from Sky - or even a fellow female like Jacqui Oatley.

Fans would love to see Sky Sports favourites Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher arrive in one form or another, but we will have to wait on any more leaks from the Beta.
