FIFA 22: England FAVOURITES for World Cup according to simulation

It is a World Cup year, but not as we know it as we will have to wait until the winter months for football's greatest prize to be claimed.

However, one fan can't wait that long and has simulated the tournament 15 times in FIFA 22!

There are some interesting teams in the mix too as you can see from the results shared on Reddit.

It's coming home!

To say England are the favourites may be getting ahead of ourselves, but at least FIFA 22 suggests that Gareth Southgate's men have a good chance of making it to the final!

Of the 15 tournaments simulated, England won two (joint-highest) and came runners-up three times (joint-highest).

While the three final losses do not bode well, especially after the EURO final heartbreak, it would still be a great achievement for a relatively young side.

GOLDEN BOYS - Southgate has a wealth of talent at his disposal

Individually, Harry Kane picked up two Golden Boot's and a Golden Ball from the 15 tournaments, not a bad effort!

Jamie Vardy also claimed a Golden Ball, but that won't be happening in Qatar as he is retired from international football.

We were excited for the World Cup before, but having seen these results, we can't wait for England to get underway against USA, Iran, and the remaining European qualifier in Group B.

One last hurrah?

It is not just England who made it into five finals, with Lionel Messi's Argentina also heavily fancied by EA.

The World Cup has eluded Messi so far and is the only trophy missing from his vast cabinet.

FINAL GOODBYE - Messi could retire after this World Cup

One key point to note though is that Messi is absent from the Golden Boot and Golden Ball lists, with Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez appearing to be the star for Argentina instead.

Martinez's total of eight goals in simulation #8 is the highest of any player across all 15 simulations, so he could be one to keep an eye on in Qatar.

Underdogs

Surely not. Switzerland are the "penalty GOATs" according to the post having claimed two World Cup titles.

The Swiss did not make it out of the group half of the time, yet when it mattered they could not be beaten!

With no runners-up medals, the Swiss boast a 100% record in the final, so be wary of them later this year!

With Brazil, Serbia, and Cameroon joining them in Group G, there really is no guarantee that Switzerland will make it into the knockout rounds.
