FIFA 22 How to get ReGens: Discover duplicates of legends in Career Mode

In FIFA 22 Career Mode you need to keep progressing your club, signing not just the current crop of top talents, but also the best young players and wonderkids.

For this you can use your real world knowledge and online lists to snap up the best choices, but there is also another trick to getting brilliant new talent for your squad, which you can use in every save.

The concept of ReGens may not be common knowledge to all, but they are a way to take your saves to the next level, so read on to discover all you need to know about ReGens in FIFA 22.

What are ReGens?

Many players may not know what a ReGen is, and the answer is very simple.

To keep a constant, fresh player pool going, when a veteran player retires the game will create a ReGen version of them to take their place.

That way you don't end up playing a Career Mode for 10 seasons with only ageing players in your squad.

Each ReGen will be unique to your save, so although we can't tell you names to look out for, we can let you know the secrets to find them.

How to identify a ReGen

The trick to knowing if you've found a ReGen of a player is to know your players.

The ReGen player will be aged between 16-21, have the same nationality, position(s), BIRTHDAY, and can be found in the league the original player retired in.

Note, if the player's contract expired at the same time as they retired, their ReGen can be found in the Free Agents.

Most importantly, the ReGen will have the same potential as the retired player, which allows you to pick the next top talents.

The ReGen will obviously have a different name and physical features and will have randomly generated stats.

How to find a ReGen

There is a bit of work to be done to find the best ReGens.

Use your scout and your own knowledge to find ageing players and then either:

  • check to see if they are retiring at the end of the season
  • add them to your transfer targets - when they disappear from the list they have retired

You can then search in the league the old player retired in for a player of the same nationality and position, and if you can't find them there, check in the Free Agents hub.

The computer will also act quickly to sign these players, as they have great potential, so you have to try to outpace it.

There may be multiple ReGen players of the same nationality and position that appear at the same time, in this case, you can go to 'edit player' and check their date of birth matches with that of the retired player you were after.

List of potential ReGens

Players almost certain to retire after your first season, and therefore gain a ReGen, include Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 39, and Gianluigi Buffon, 40.

When a player will retire changes on different Career Mode's, but if you play long enough you are likely to find ReGens of these top players:

  • Lionel Messi, 34
  • Cristiano Ronaldo, 36
  • Manuel Neuer, 35
  • Luis Suarez, 34
  • Sergio Ramos, 35
  • Luka Modric, 35
  • Jamie Vardy, 34
  • Giorgio Chiellini, 36
  • David Silva, 35
  • Thiago Silva, 36

ReGen Fun

If you want to add some more fun to your Career Mode save you can edit your teams to produce ReGens of Icons.

Before starting your career you can edit teams and move players such as Cafu and Zidane from the Soccer Aid squad into a regular team.
