FIFA 22: Icon Player Pick error leads to UNFAIR compensation

We have lost count of the mistakes we have seen in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team this season, and yet another has been acknowledged by EA.

In fact, there are three to speak of in the last week with the FUT Birthday Swaps rewards and an Icon Player Pick SBC all containing errors.

Compensation for one of these SBCs seems remarkably unfair on players who did not complete it though, but by now it is what we have come to expect.

Mid/Prime Icon Player Pick Error

If you didn't know already, the latest Mid/Prime Icon Player Pick SBC was the latest in a string of mistakes we have seen in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.

The options in the SBC rewards also included Prime Icon Moments players, therefore not offering the rewards stated in the SBC.

EA has already released a statement via Twitter, stating that they "continue to identify impacted players, and once we've completed our investigation, they will receive the corrected Mid/Prime Icon Player Pick in-game."

This means an extra Icon Player Pick for all those who completed the SBC, seems fair...

A bit much

For other errors, EA's willingness to offer the correct rewards has been accepted gratefully, however, this one seems a bit over the top.

Consider this, if you are expecting a Mid or Prime Icon, and receive a Prime Icon Moments as one of your options, are you really going to be that upset?

Prime Icon Moments are the highest-rated of the Icon cards, so why should players who received a better version of a card than they were expecting, receive an extra (and valuable) Icon Player Pick?

Yes, it wasn't what it said on the tin. But surely an apology for giving out better rewards than expected would have sufficed, rather than dishing out another free Icon!

Enough is enough

The Icon Player Pick debacle is not the only error to have hit the game recently, with some of the FUT Birthday Swaps rewards also featuring mistakes.

The FUT Birthday Pack and Player Pick rewards were only supposed to feature Team 1 players but instead offered Team 2 stars as well.

That mistake has now been fixed, however, the 83-90 OVR x 6 Player Pack remains unavailable in the game.

The reward, available to redeem for just three tokens, offered just five players in the pack upon its release.

EA has said that those affected will be compensated with an extra player in the coming days.
