Shapeshifters is the next promo in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, given the tough task of taking over from the Team of the Season campaign.
Player position changes are the main theme of the event, which can throw up some whacky new cards.

Beware of the GOAT
After missing out on the Ultimate TOTS squad, we thought that Lionel Messi might make an appearance in the Shapeshifters side, and Fut Sheriff has leaked that the little magician does have a card set to come.
The stats are just a prediction at the moment, however, if EA wants to keep users engaged in the new content then all future promos will need to compete with the TOTS one.
That means the 99 OVR rating is well and truly on the cards for Messi, with maximum passing and dribbling stats also likely.
His position change to a striker will help enormously with squad building, as you will now be able to move him anywhere within the middle of the lineup without compromising on chemistry.
If the card wasn't looking juicy enough, he is also getting upgraded to five-star skill moves!

Shapeshifters
The Shapeshifters promo was first seen in FIFA 20, although it didn't reappear in FIFA 21, so we already know what sort of mechanics to expect.
As always, the promo players will receive massive boosts, but they will also have their cards transformed, with changes coming to player positions, work rates, weak foot ability, and updated attributes to better suit their new position.
A squad will be released into packs, with an objective player or two expected to be made available when the event kicks off, as well as a few SBCs coming throughout the campaign.
Shapeshifters had two squad releases in FIFA 20, and with EA specifying that a "Shapeshifter Team #1 item" can be earned through the new Objective, it looks like we should see a two-week promo coming again this time.
