FIFA 22 PSG Career Mode Guide: Starting lineup and who to sign

If you are taking over as PSG manager in FIFA 22 Career Mode, yes, we are judging you, then the only measure of success is to win the Champions League. Anything else is a failure.

So, before you start your silly save with moneybags PSG, make sure you know what to do to get them in the best possible shape to finally achieve European glory.

Team Rating

PSG has a five-star rating in FIFA 22.

The breakdown of the ratings is as follows: ATT 89, MID 83, DEF 85.

Starting Lineup and Formation

It’s a 4-3-3 for PSG, although it is almost impossible to pack all their superstars into the starting XI, leaving some world class players on the bench.

Where else to start than the attack? Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi form the attacking trio that will strike fear into every defence on the planet.

Marco Verratti is joined by Idrissa Gueye and Ander Herrera in midfield, although we would bring in summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum for the Spaniard.

Achraf Hakimi will provide great pace on the right of defence, with Juan Bernat a steadier option on the left.

Sergio Ramos and Marquinhos look to be the favoured pairing, although Presnel Kimpembe is a FIFA beast!

In goal is a straight shoot-out between Gianluigi Donnarumma and Keylor Navas with both players more than capable of doing a great job.

That incredible team means that the likes of Angel Di Maria, Mauro Icardi, and Leandro Paredes have to settle for a place on the bench!

Tactics and Instructions

If you are going to use Messi on the wing, then you are going to want him to "Cut Inside" onto that magical left foot.

SHOW FEET - Get City's stars on the ball

With his wand, Messi can dribble, shoot, and pass and basically just tear any opposition to shreds.

Unfortunately, there isn't an instruction to tell your players to pass to Messi all the time, but that is what you should do!

As far as the rest of the team goes, making sure your midfielders are set to "Cover Centre" is the only real change you will need to make.

Development Plans

This all depends on personal preference. We like having Messi in a more central role, so switching his main position from RW to CAM/CF is first on the list.

With the positioning pretty much sorted among the squad, make sure to have your youngsters working hard on improving the attributes you want to see within your first team.

Transfer Market

Starting budget: £138 million

Who should go?

PSG’s squad has too many midfield players, so we would sell at least two of Rafinha, Danilo Pereira, Ander Herrera, or Julian Draxler.

Defenders Thilo Kehrer and Layvin Kurzawa are also surplus to requirements and should earn you an extra £15 million.

Add in the sale of goalkeepers Sergio Rico and Alexandre Letellier on top of the midfielders and you are looking at a total of near enough £60 million coming in to help you bolster the squad.

The following youngsters can also be sold as their potential rating is not high enough to challenge for a first-team spot:

Nathan Bitumazala, Ismail Gharbi, Bandiougou Fadiga.

Loans

We recommend sending three of PSG’s youngsters out on loan, including Dutch sensation Xavi Simons (POT 83).

Junior Dina Ebimbe (POT 80) and Edouard Michut (POT 82) are the other two young players that could benefit from a loan spell.

PSG already have several players out on loan, and you will want to keep a close eye on Timothee Pembele (POT 81) and Arnaud Kalimuendo (POT 82).

Who to sign?

You can hardly improve the front three, but age will come in to play after a season or two so signing a young forward is the right option in the first season.

Erling Haaland (OVR 88) is clearly the best option, but his arrival would probably mean pushing Mbappe into a spot on the wing.

There are other options, but they are predominantly for positions on the wing, with the likes of Phil Foden (OVR 84) and Federico Chiesa (OVR 83) both boasting potentials of 90+.

The second position we would go for is a world-class central midfielder to partner Marco Verratti as he is the standout player in that position.

Bayern Munich duo Joshua Kimmich (OVR 89) and Leon Goretzka (OVR 87) are great options for that position.

Given PSG’s huge war chest, you could even go for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante (OVR 90)!

Board Expectations

Winning is all that matters. Forget Financial and Youth Development and focus solely on results on the pitch.

Domestic Success is critical, and with the squad at your disposal winning Ligue 1 should be a piece of cake.

How will you cope with the pressure of Continental Success though? A critical priority of the board, all your eggs are in the Champions League basket.

The board are keen on Brand Exposure too, but with Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar in the squad and a huge transfer budget, that should not be a problem.
