FIFA 22 Spurs Career Mode Guide: Starting lineup and who to sign

Spurs are the famous nearly-men of the Premier League, and without your help in FIFA 22 they could slide back into mid-table mediocrity.

As trophies continue to elude them, Harry Kane looks set to depart and leave the club in disarray, so have you got what it takes to rebuild the bridge and get Kane back onside in Career Mode?

Team Rating

Spurs has a 4.5-star rating in FIFA 22.

The breakdown of the ratings is as follows: ATT 86, MID 80, DEF 80.

Starting Lineup and Formation

Some variation of a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 is most suitable for Spurs to get the most out of their attacking players whilst remaining solid at the back.

Starting in attack and the two jewels in Spurs crown. Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the game, and his partnership with Heung-Min Son must remain intact!

In those two you have genuinely world-class talent, with Lucas Moura providing the width on the right-hand side.

UNDERACHIEVERS - Spurs' squad is packed with talent

In midfield, we would go for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele, and Giovanni Lo Celso as our trio as they provide a nice balance between attack and defence.

The full-backs pick themselves with Sergio Reguilon on the left and Emerson Royal on the right, and we would select Davinson Sanchez to partner with Cristian Romero in the middle.

Hugo Lloris is obviously the man between the posts, although the on-loan Pierluigi Gollini is certainly a decent second choice.

Tactics and Instructions

Kane often drops deep in real life to try and link the play, but scrap that! We want him in the box scoring goals.

Tell Kane to Stay Forward and Stay Central to maximise his chances of having a sight on goal.

Both full-backs can offer a threat going forward, so make sure one of your midfielders (preferably Hojbjerg) is set to Stay Back While Attacking.

As ever, get the midfielder to Cover Centre rather than wide or you may find yourself very open.

Development Plans

Get Bryan Gil in the CAM role. His 86 Potential makes him one of the most promising players in the squad, and if you can link him up with Kane and Son you could be on to a winner.

We would also switch Japhet Tanganga (POT 84) to a CB as we think that is where his best football can be played.

Who should go?

Spurs seem to have a large squad, but only a small pool of first-team players to choose from which means you should go for a big clear out at the start of your save.

Ben Davies (OVR 79), Matt Doherty (OVR 78), and Harry Winks (OVR 77) can all go to free up some funds for new signings.

We would also be tempted to let Dele Alli (OVR 80) leave too as Bryan Gil is soon to replace him in the squad.

The following youngsters can also be sold as their potential rating is not high enough to challenge for a first-team spot:

Harvey White, Dilan Markanday, Brookyln Lyons-Foster, Marcel Lavinier

Loans

Dane Scarlett (POT 86) is the most promising youngster on the books, so a loan spell early on could do him the world of good.

Jack Clarke (POT 80), Nile John (POT 80), Malachi Fagan-Walcott (POT 80), Maksim Paskotsi (POT 80), and Alfie Devine (POT 82) are all promising young players capable of becoming Premier League quality.

Spurs already have several players out on loan too, with Pape Sarr (POT 82) and Troy Parrott (POT 80) the ones to keep an eye on.

Who to sign?

It will be difficult to sign anyone who will start over Son and Kane, but a back-up forward to take the goalscoring weight off Kane’s shoulders is a must.

We are looking for a versatile forward who can play through the middle, but also excel out wide if called upon.

Richarlison (OVR 82) is our first choice for this role as his mobility, dribbling, and finishing make him an extremely versatile forward.

With a potential of 87 OVR too, that is a frightening front three you could have on your hands.

In defence, we are prepared to give Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga the opportunity to reach their potential at CB, while the RB and LB spots are well stocked.

It is this that has led us to look for a box-to-box midfielder to chip in with goals and break up the play.

AC Milan’s Franck Kessie (OVR 84) is our favourite in this position, and if you are prepared to wait a season you could snap him up on a free!

With an incredible 94 Stamina and high work rates both defensively and offensively, Kessie really does cover every blade of grass.
