Another update has arrived in FIFA 22, although this one is just a small adjustment after the rather large patch that came in Title Update #4.

Title Update #5 brings just one gameplay change with it, but we should all notice a difference once it arrives on all platforms.

LATEST: FIFA 22 Title Update #5 Now Live on All Platforms

After an early release on PC, FIFA 22 Title Update #5 has now arrived on all other platforms as well, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Google Stadia.

While this patch is light on overall changes, it does bring an important shakeup to counteraggression in FIFA 22, improving possession retention on interceptions and blocks for Ground Passes.

Release Date

Title Update #5 went live for PC (Origin/Steam) on Tuesday, 1 February. The update went live on all other platforms on Monday, 7 February.

We expect the update to follow on all other consoles in about one week's time, but as it is such a small patch it could be released much sooner.

Defensive Boost

The latest patch looks to improve the defending side of the game, with defensive midfielders looking set to benefit the most from Title Update #5.

The patch reads as follows:

Increased the likelihood of a player retaining the ball after intercepting or blocking a Ground Pass.

BENEFICIARY - Rice is one of the Premier League's most frequent interceptors
This change has no effect on how often Ground Passes are intercepted and blocked, it only impacts the outcome of interceptions and blocks.

While their ability to make interceptions has not changed, the effectiveness of their interventions will increase as they are now more likely to retain the ball.

This also means that intentional defensive actions will be rewarded with winning possession back more frequently, rather than rebounding back to the opposition. Result!
