What is a "wonderkid"?

We are classifying wonderkids as teenagers at the beginning of a save on FIFA 22.

Therefore, Erling Haaland and Joao Felix, who are both 21, are ineligible for this list but do make the list of FIFA 22's Best Young Players.

Pedri (OVR 81 - POT 91)

You'll notice that none of the best wonderkids are defenders, but that doesn't mean there aren't some brilliant wonderkid defenders, just that they won't reach as high a peak as more offensive players.

Josko Gvardiol is a wonderkid centre-back who looks to become one of the best in his position, and the same can be said of wonderkid left-back Nuno Mendes, who could have made this list with his 88 OVR potential.

There is an abundance of top young right-backs at the moment, and looking to follow in their footsteps are wonderkid right-backs such as Devyne Rensch.

Just because they might not reach the same heights as the attacking players, doesn't mean that these defenders should be overlooked.
