FIFA 23 Bournemouth Career Mode Guide: Starting Lineup, Who to Sign & more

Bournemouth have done a great job of securing their status as a Premier League side, but it's time to take them to the next level in FIFA 23.

First of all, the Cherries need to fight off relegation and remain in the English top flight, but we believe they have the potential to push on and compete for European places in the seasons to come with the right recruitment and strategy.

So, can you be the man to take Bournemouth to the big time and compete for major honours? We're providing all the tools for you to succeed as the Bees manager in FIFA 23 Career Mode.

Team Rating

Bournemouth has a four-star rating in FIFA 23.

The breakdown of the ratings is as follows: ATT 75, MID 73, DEF 73.

Starting Lineup and Formation

The Cherries set up in the 4-2-3-1 formation in FIFA 23 and there isn't much need to stray too far from this set-up as it allows the team to remain defensively stable whilst posing an attacking threat.

You may wish to switch to the 4-2-3-1 narrow variation as the use of the left and right attacking midfielders (LAM & RAM) fit the meta.

Up front is the former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke. The 24-year-old Englishman is the main source of goals for this current side.

Operating in the three creative positions behind the striker are Marcus Tavernier, David Brooks and Philip Billing.

Giving the team defensive stability in the central defensive midfield positions are Lewis Cook and Jefferson Lerma.

Summer signing Marcos Senesi partners the promising Lloyd Kelly in central defence, whilst Jordan Zemura and the pacey Ryan Fredericks will get up and down in the full-back positions.

Brazil international GK Neto is the man between the sticks.

Tactics and Instructions

With target man Dominic Solanke being the main target up front, we want to maximise his goal threat.

So, instruct the striker to Stay Forward and Stay Central to give him the best possible chance of a sight at goal.

You'll want to make sure your left and right attacking mids are set to Get Into The Box For Crosses as well as Come Back On Defence in order to help the full-backs out defensively.

Feel free to set your central attacking midfielder on Stay Forward too, so Solanke is not left isolated up top.

It's important that you instruct your more defensive CDM, Jefferson Lerma to Cover Centre and Stay Back While Attacking, but you can give Lewis Cook a bit more freedom going forward.

Training

Unfortunately, Bournemouth's current squad only holds four players with a potential rating of 80 OVR or more.

But that means when it comes to developing youngsters, it's pretty straightforward.

DREAM COME TRUE - Youngsters dream of playing in the Vitality Stadium

One thing that the Cherries do have is an exciting centre-half pairing. Marcos Senesi (POT 81) and Lloyd Kelly (POT 80) can develop into a solid duo at the back.

You'll want to focus on training 23-year-old versatile midfielder Marcus Tavernier (POT 80), who can grow by eight overall points.

You may also want to develop the likes of Dominic Solanke (POT 79) and his understudy, Jaidon Anthony (POT 79).

Transfer Market

Starting budget: £24.75 million

Who should go?

As is to be expected with a team that has recently been promoted from the Championship, there are a fair few players who don't quite cut the mustard in this Bournemouth squad.

The sales of the ageing Adam Smith (OVR 74), Jack Stephens (OVR 74), Kieffer Moore (OVR 73) and Junior Stanislas (OVR 72) can generate around £12 million for future signings.

The likes of Ryan Christie (OVR 74), Ben Pearson (OVR 73) and Joe Rothwell (OVR 72) can be sold in order to free up a further £11 million for the transfer budget.

Central attacking midfielder Philip Billing (OVR 75) doesn't fit the meta profile for a CAM in FIFA 23 and can be shown the door for roughly £10 million.

Youngsters Will Dennis and Owen Bevancan also be sold as their potential rating is not high enough to challenge for a first-team spot in the future.

Loans

The Cherries have ample depth, meaning there are a number of youngsters who can be sent out on loan.

You should look to offer English centre-back James Hill (POT 77) regular minutes elsewhere in order to develop properly.

Irish midfielder Gavin Kilkenny (POT 75) who is currently on loan at Stoke City, can be sent straight back out on loan upon his return in order to fast-track his journey to the first team.

Who to Sign

New transfer budget: £59 million

Creative Midfielder

The clear weakness in the Bournemouth XI lies in the CAM position. Once the sale of Philip Billing goes through, you'll need to sign a replacement.

CAPTAIN AMERICA - Reyna is the future of American football

19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder Gio Reyna is our number one choice for the number 10 role, who can be bought for around £25 million.

The versatile attacker already boasts solid stats as well as four-star skill moves and can grow into an 86 OVR player in FIFA 23 Career Mode.

Once you've secured yourself a number 10, you'll want a pacey winger to trouble the opponent's back line. Newcastle's Allain Saint-Maximin (OVR 81) could be an astute purchase.
