Squad Building Challenges can be one of the best ways to improve your Ultimate Team in FIFA 23, and this year we have seen some excellent items made available.

Part of the challenge of unlocking these great rewards is meeting the squad requirements, and this often involves including a player of a specific rating. With that in mind, you will need to know who the cheapest 89-rated players are in the game.

As the Team of the Season event continues there will be plenty of SBCs to unlock, with both players and packs as the rewards. If you are in need of an 89-rated player to complete a challenge, take a look at the cheapest available in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team below.

Cheapest 89-Rated Gold Players

There are just ten 89-rated gold players in FUT 23, with most currently valued at around 21,000 coins. The price of these players will remain fairly steady as players look to use them in SBCs, rather than adding them to their squads.

The Premier League is home to six of the ten players on the list, with Brazilian goalkeepers Ederson and Allison sharing the same rating.

Cheapest 89-Rated Special Items

Special items fluctuate in price much more than regular gold cards as their presence in packs changes. Players from recent promo squads will often be cheaper as they are more abundant on the market.

Buying these cards at their lowest price can help you complete SBCs cheaper than with basic gold items. It can also be a great way to make coins too if you stay patient and make profits from them when they are removed from packs.

FIFA 23 SBCs

An SBC - or Squad Building Challenge - is one of the playable game modes within Ultimate Team.

You are tasked with building teams using players from your club, but with specific requirements.

SBC requirements regularly include a minimum overall squad rating amongst other things.

So, in order to hit the minimum squad rating, you will need 'SBC fodder'.

SBC fodder refers to high-rated cards that are cheap in price due to either their on-pitch performance or their underrated value in the market but are useful in SBCs because of their high OVR rating.

In many cases, it can be more economical to include an 88 OVR or 89 OVR card in SBCs that require a lower-rated squad, such as an 85 or 86 squad rating, as it can significantly bump up the overall rating of the squad.
