With a first look expected to be showcased at some point in July, we want to take a look at five stars that could feature on the cover.

Whilst PSG star Kylian Mbappe looks the most obvious choice, there's still a chance that others could knock him off his perch.

ON TOP - Will Mbappe be the FIFA 23 Cover Star?

Whilst that wasn't the case for FIFA 22 cover star Mbappe, we get the feeling that whoever dons the front of the game case will undoubtedly be top of the rating pile this year.

So, who stands a chance?

Kylian Mbappe

Let's start with the obvious.

Mbappe, the FIFA 22 cover star, will undoubtedly feature somewhere on the FIFA 23 cover, with a multi-year deal reportedly signed with EA last year.

The French sensation could have broken the footballing world if he had made his switch to Real Madrid, but instead Mbappe opted to stay in Paris.

Whilst home comforts can be empathised with, could this lead to EA changing tack and looking for a more ground-breaking star to don the cover of FIFA 23?

Erling Haaland

If you're looking for a player that has made a huge move and would undoubtedly shift copies through sheer hype, Erling Haaland is your man.

Moving from Dortmund to Manchester City in the biggest move of the window so far, Haaland could be within a shout to at least feature on the UK release of the game.

At a young age, cultivating a relationship with another young player could also be key, as EA Sports look to get people on their side ahead of their split with FIFA.

Cristiano Ronaldo

He may be a wantaway star at this moment in time, but that doesn't mean Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't have a good shout of being included on the FIFA 23 cover.

A phenomenon who is coming to the end of his illustrious career, could EA give the Portuguese star one last spin on top?

With Manchester United still one of the biggest clubs in the world, and Ronaldo certainly one of the most adored athletes, EA could do far worse than placing the GOAT on their cover.

Having said that, maybe there's space for both Messi and Ronaldo on the cover of FIFA 23...

Pele

With the World Cup set to take centre-stage in FIFA 23, it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that EA could feature a former World Cup legend on the cover.

Perhaps they could release individual covers based on the country, with stars like Bobby Moore featuring on the UK version.

For a global release, you'd look to stars like Pele or Maradona, both of whom are synonymous with the World Cup.

Football's greatest tournament doesn't come round every year, and it would be nice to see EA honour the competition on the FIFA 23 cover.

Hugo Lloris

Hear us out before you lose your mind!

With this year being a World Cup year, there's every chance that current holders France could feature on the cover in some capacity.

Maybe EA could incorporate Mbappe's cover shoot with the World Cup trophy, or maybe French captain Hugo Lloris, who first lifted the trophy in 2018, could be the man to don the cover.

With the World Cup set to play a huge part in FIFA 23, what better way to celebrate than to honour the man who most recently lifted football's biggest prize?
