FIFA 23 is going to be released soon, with more news and rumours coming at us with each passing day.

The highly anticipated feature of cross-play has now been confirmed by EA for the upcoming title, meaning various consoles can interact with each other.

Cross-play will work slightly differently in the Ultimate Team Transfer Market compared to other game modes, so find out all you need to know below.

FIFA 23 Cross-Play

EA has confirmed the arrival of cross-play in FIFA 23, after the trial run in FIFA 22 proved successful.

BETTER THAN EVER - FIFA 23 is taking things to the next level

A statement from EA said the following:

Play together against friends on different platforms as FIFA 23 introduces cross-play for players on the same platform generation. Connect with friends and play in 1v1 modes, including Online Friendlies, and in FIFA Ultimate Team™ in FUT Play A Friend.
Plus, compete against players on different platforms in Online Seasons, FUT Online Friendlies, FUT Rivals, FUT Champions, and FUT Online Draft to help you to get into your next online match more easily than ever before.

The confirmed game modes for cross-play in FIFA 23 are:

  • Online Friendlies
  • Ultimate Team
  • Online Seasons

Unfortunately, cross-play is not coming to Pro Clubs, leading to a backlash from the FIFA community that love that game mode.

EA has addressed the unrest, and it appears that they are still looking into bringing it to the mode, however, we could be waiting a while longer.

Compatible Platforms

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S Stadia, and PC versions of FIFA 23 will be cross-play compatible.

AGAINST THE WORLD - Cross-Play is confirmed for FIFA 23

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 23 will be cross-play compatible with one another.

Old generation consoles and current generation consoles will not be compatible for cross-play.

FUT Transfer Market

Now you know how cross-play will work in general across the various game modes, we can show how it will work for the Ultimate Team Transfer Market.

Unlike in other modes, where next-gen is grouped together and PS4 and Xbox One are coupled, here is how the FUT Transfer Market Pool will be separated:

Shared FUT Transfer Market Pool

  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Stadia

Individual FUT Transfer Market

  • PC
    • Pool 1
  • Switch
    • Pool 2

That means there will now be three separate FUT markets, with PC only interacting with PC, Switch only with Switch, and all others combined.
