FIFA 23: England's BEST 2022 World Cup XI according to EA's FIFA 23 ratings

FIFA 23 is set to hit the shelves soon, with the official release date edging closer.

In the run-up to release, plenty of player ratings have been revealed via online leaks and it's fair to say that certain fans are NOT happy.

With the Qatar World Cup approaching and set to take place over the Winter of 2022, there's much debate amongst England fans as to who should make Gareth Southgate's starting XI.

Well, we're taking a look at which players would make up the eleven if it were down to EA's FIFA 23 ratings.

Attack

There's no debate who starts up front, with Spurs' world-class striker Harry Kane rated as an 89 OVR in FIFA 23.

The two winger positions are hotly contested between a number of exciting talents.

Unsurprisingly, Chelsea summer signing Raheem Sterling claims the first spot, with an 86 OVR card that will boast brilliant pace and dribbling.

According to EA's ratings, Arsenal number seven Bukayo Saka misses out due to his 82 OVR rating.

The same goes for Manchester United duo, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, who has been handed a giant -4 downgrade in FIFA 23, taking him to an 81 OVR.

FIFA 23 suggests that City forward Phil Foden, rated as an 85 OVR, should start for England in attack meaning his club teammate Jack Grealish misses out.

Midfield

Defensive midfield duo Kalvin Philips and Declan Rice have held down the England CM spots for the past two major tournaments, but EA thinks it's time for a change.

West Ham captain Declan Rice will retain his spot, being rated as an 84 OVR, but Manchester City summer signing Kalvin Philips will drop out, given he is only an 81 OVR in FIFA 23.

MIDFIELD MAESTRO - Rice is more than just a ball winner

19-year-old Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham will be handed an 84 OVR card in FIFA 23, which means he will slot in alongside Rice for the 2022 World Cup.

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson and Southampton's James Ward-Prowse miss out on starting spots, with 83 and 81 OVR cards.

In the number 10 position, Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount pips James Maddison to a place in the starting XI, with an 84 OVR card.

Defence

The right-back position is a topic of ongoing debate for England supporters.

Manchester City speedster Kyle Walker, Chelsea wing-back Reece James and Liverpool playmaker Trent Alexander-Arnold are all world-class in their own right.

However, according to EA, one stands out above the rest.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will be England's highest-rated right-back in FIFA 23, with an OVR of 87, whilst Kyle Walker sits at 85 OVR and Reece James at 84 OVR.

If it were down to the FIFA 23 ratings, there would also be a major change in the heart of the England defence ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori is set to be rated as an 84 OVR with some incredible stats, whilst Manchester United's Harry Maguire will take a huge hit, being rated as an 81 OVR in FIFA 23.

The Serie A title winner will pair up with City's John Stones for the Qatar World Cup, with the 28-year-old rated as an 83 OVR in FIFA 23.

Another Red Devils defender who is set to be downgraded in FIFA 23 is Luke Shaw, who will be rated as an 80 OVR.

As a result, Ben Chilwell will represent the country on the left side of the defence, with the Blues star rated as an 82 OVR.

Goalkeeper

Whilst the performances of Newcastle's Nick Pope and Nottingham Forest's Dean Henderson have been excellent at the start of the 2022/23 season for their new clubs, we still feel the battle for England's number one shirt is a two-horse race.

Of course, Jordan Pickford has been one of Gareth Southgate's most trusted servants over the past few years, but Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale has entered the fray.

The Gunners 'keeper will reportedly be rated as an 82 OVR in FIFA 23.

Jordan Pickford's rating for the upcoming game has not yet been revealed, but we expect the Everton GK's rating to remain as an 83 OVR.

So, according to EA, Jordan Pickford is England's number one for the 2022 World Cup.
