FIFA 23 Features: FIVE things we want to see RETURN in this year's game

FIFA 23 is just around the corner, with a number of news and leaks spilling out regarding the new game.

Whilst we could look at some new features that will take the game to the next level, we want to reminisce and look at some past features that could make a triumphant return in this year's game.

Here are five classic features we'd like to see return in FIFA 23.

Goalkeeper Wipeout

Not just a cathartic moment of release after a long and stressful game, taking out the goalkeeper was arguably one of the most enjoyable things to do in FIFA games of the past.

HE'S OFF - Tackling the Goalkeeper is sorely missed in FIFA

With GKs seemingly protected by an invisible shield all game, there would be nothing better than allowing players to bring these gloved heroes down a peg or two.

Wiping out the 'keeper may result in your player being sent off, but at least you would have let them know that they aren't entirely untouchable.

Club Finances

Career Mode has seen many features removed over the years, and having control of your club's finances is one of those gems.

Giving you the chance to sign sponsorship deals and secure brand exposure for your club, control over club finances seems a simple small detail that would go a long to improving FIFA 23.

With Football Manager standing as a pioneer as to how to create an immersive career mode, FIFA should definitely start paying attention.

Small things go a long way, and this classic feature would almost certainly bring the immersion levels up in FIFA 23.

Silver Stars

Silver Stars may have existed throughout the entirety of FIFA 22, but these imposters aren't what we're talking about.

We want to see classic Silver overpowered players return to the game, with both bronze and silver options feeling entirely pointless in recent games.

SIGN OF THE TIMES - Silver players are as good as useless in FIFA 22

With it being so easy to get yourself a high-rated team, even at the start of the game, what's the point in low-level cards even being included?

With spectres of classic silver stars like El Sharaaway lurking in the shadows, we'd like to see FIFA 23 balance the scales and allow Silver players to shine once more.

Boost Your Funds

Requesting funds in FIFA was a source of frustration, but it always gave you a glimmer of hope of securing that final last-minute deal.

The feature was removed a few years back and hasn't been seen since, with a one-time takeover replacing it.

Whilst this cash injection at the start is great for those who need it, there is no way to secure extra cash when you're in a tight spot.

If you were struggling to meet your targets for the season, requesting funds in the January transfer window could unlock doors and allow you to bolster your squad ahead of the season's second half.

All-in-all, this feels like a small missing piece that could massively improve career mode in FIFA 23.

Trophy Hunter

Another Career Mode feature left to fall by the way-side is the trophy cabinet, which hasn't been seen in the game for over five years.

Much like the trophy cabinets we see in Pro Clubs, this feature allowed you to reflect on all the silverware you'd collated as a manager throughout your career.

This is, by comparison, one of the more menial suggestions on this list, but it once again links to small details going a long way.

Being able to look back at your career with pride is a small nod to your skills and a way of motivating you to continue going, as we all know that FIFA 23 must extinguish the mid-period lull that Career Mode majorly suffers from.
