FIFA 23 - Arsenal star leads top five players who need an upgrade

With the calendar year coming to a close, it's time to take a look at some of the top performers from around the world who need an upgrade in FIFA 23.

Every league across Europe has produced certain players who have taken us by surprise with their level of performance so far this season.

Only a select few will be chosen for upgrades, however, and here are our top five contenders.

Lionel Messi (OVR 91 - OVR 92)

Now, you may be confused as to why a 91-rated card is included in this list, but hear me out.

Anybody with a pair of eyes can see that Lionel Messi is clearly the best football player in the world.

So, his rating should match this fact. The World Cup-winning Argentinian should be upgraded to a 92 OVR in FIFA 23 - one overall rating above the rest of the pack.

Ousmane Dembele (OVR 83 - OVR 85)

Ousmane Dembele's impressive form at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was hardly a coincidence since he has played so well since Xavi took over as Barcelona's head coach.

The France international winger already has four goals and five assists to his name in just 14 La Liga appearances so far this season, as well as three direct goal contributions in the Champions League.

The 25-year-old is now established as one of the most dangerous wingers in world football and should be bumped up to 85 OVR in FIFA.

William Saliba (OVR 80 - OVR 84)

Having returned to the Emirates after his latest loan spell in France, William Saliba has been arguably the best central defender in the Premier League this season.

The Frenchman is as dominant in defence as he is calm and composed on the ball and deserves to be upgraded to at least an 84 OVR item in FIFA.

To be honest, almost the entire Gunners first XI needs upgrading, especially the likes of Ben White, Bukayo Saka, Granit Xhaka and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Miguel Almiron (OVR 78 - OVR 83)

Nobody deserves an upgrade more than this man. Miguel Almiron has been absolutely sensational for Newcastle throughout the first 15 games of the PL season.

The Magpies winger has netted eight goals and picked up an assist in the league already, which should be enough to bump him up to an 83 OVR.

Fellow Newcastle baller Bruno Guimaraes needs to be mentioned too given just how good he has been in the heart of the midfield for Eddie Howe.

Niclas Fullkrug (OVR 75 - OVR 83)

29-year-old Niclas Fullkrug has been on fire for Werder Bremen this season.

The big German centre-forward has scored 10 goals in 14 league appearances whilst providing two assists in the process.

The veteran forward has incredibly won the Bundesliga Player of the Month award twice already and will no doubt be getting a giant upgrade in FIFA soon, perhaps a +8 overall to an 83 OVR.
