FIFA 23 - Barca legend set to receive special End of an Era card in FUT

After a long and illustrious career, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has announced his retirement from football via social media.

The Spanish centre-half has stated that he will hang up his boots after his final game at the Nou Camp on Saturday afternoon.

Given that this will be his last appearance in a FIFA title, EA is sure to hand the footballing icon a special End of an Era SBC card in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.

Final Farewell

This season Barcelona have crashed out of the Champions League and are second in La Liga, one point behind Real Madrid.

Pique has become a peripheral figure for Barcelona this season, making only five starts this campaign.

The 35-year-old made the announcement that he will retire in a video posted on his Twitter account.

"I've always said that there would not be any other team after Barca and that's how it will be," he said.

Pique went on to say: "And now that [this] kid's dreams have come true, I want to tell you that I've decided that now is the time to bring this journey to its end."

Barca will play Almeria in La Liga for Gerard Pique's last match, which will no doubt be an emotional final farewell to his beloved fans.

Pique was a youth player with Barca until 2004 when he signed for Manchester United.

He was a fringe player for the Red Devils when they won the Premier League and Champions League in 2007-08 and rejoined the Catalan giants in 2008.

During his time at Barcelona, he has played more than 600 games and won 30 trophies, including eight La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies and seven Copa del Rey titles.

Pique also won 102 caps for the Spain national team and helped played a key role in their 2010 World Cup win, partnering fellow Barcelona icon, Carles Puyol in central defence.

End of an Era Gerard Pique

There is no doubt in our minds that Pique will be getting an End of an Era SBC card in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.

We expect the Spaniard's special item to be bumped up to 89 OVR, or perhaps even to the 90s.

Pique's End of an Era card could look somewhat like in the image below.

The central defender's boosted version will surely boast top-tier pace, defending and physicality as well as good dribbling and passing.

Of course, Pique will have the Lengthy Archetype, making him even more overpowered in-game.

We expect this SBC to be very pricey, given how good End of an Era will be, perhaps priced around 300,00 to 500,000 coins in FUT 23.
