What are 'Alternate Reality Icons' in FIFA 23?

The Team of the Year (TOTY) promo is taking over FIFA 23, with the vote now officially open.

@Fut Scoreboard, a Twitter account that mines data from the FIFA 23 game code, has revealed that two brand-new card types have been added!

This indicates that two fresh cards will be introduced to Ultimate Team in the coming weeks, and something seriously special looks to be on its way!

The names given to the cards are 'TOTY Icon' and 'Alternate Reality Icon'.

So, what is an Alternate Reality Icon Icon actually all about? Find out below.

What are Alternate Reality Icons?

Nothing has been officially confirmed by EA just yet, so we can only speculate on what Alternate Reality Icons might look like in FUT 23 s of now.

We think Alternate Reality Icons could potentially see EA bring position changes to Icon cards.

For example, as you can see in the image below, we could see Thierry Henry switched to a left-back in-game.

We expect both the TOTY Icons and Alternate Reality Icons to be introduced to FUT 23 at some point during the Team of the Year campaign.

There is a slim chance that the Alternate Reality Icons could be cosmetic items that can be purchased in the FUT Store, but we hope this is not the case.
