FIFA Wonderkid CBs

In this article, we will take an in-depth look at the best wonderkid centre-backs in FIFA 23. All of these players' main position is CB, but some can also play the defensive midfielder, left back, and right back position, at a very high level. Some of them are proficient in many defensive positions, but it's in the CB spot they truly shine.

When it comes to their age, all of these players are 19 years old or younger. This means they have immense potential and can become world-class in their position. You might not be able to afford all of them, but just one will already take your team to the next level.

António Silva (OVR 77 - POT 88)

Team: Benfica

Position: CB, CDM

Nation: Portugal

Age: 18

Antonio Silva made his Benfica debut in August 2022 against Boavista, and since then, the 18 year old player has become a star. He has proved he can play at a very high level. In the Champions League, he had some great performances against clubs such as Juventus and PSG.

In FIFA 23 Career mode, Silva starts with a 77 OVR and is a CB ready for the big stage. He can reach an 88 OVR, which puts him among the best CB in the game. Furthermore, Silva is a very well-rounded CB.

Silva is quite fast with 77 acceleration and 81 sprint. He also has great defensive awareness and is very strong. With 74 short passing, Silva is the perfect CB if you like to build from the back. Because of all these great stats, Silva is not a cheap player, costing a little over €20 million.

Castello Lukeba (OVR 76 - POT 86)

Team: Lyon

Position: CB, CDM

Nation: France

Age: 19

Similar to Silva, Junior Castello Lukeba is a player that will instantly improve the quality of your squad. Lukeba plays for Lyon and has established himself as one of the best CB in Ligue 1. Starting with a 76 OVR, Lukeba is fast, strong, has great defensive awareness, and has quality passing.

TOP SPOT - Lukeba will be tough to beat in FIFA 23

His 79 standing tackle and 78 sliding tackle rating, means that opponents will have a hard time passing through him. Lukeba has 69 dribbling and 67 Vision, which is quite impressive for a CB. This allows him to drive the ball with quality, and find teammates with accurate through balls.

Illia Zabarnyi (OVR 73 - POT 83)

Team: A.F.C. Bournemouth

Position: CB, CDM

Nation: Ukraine

Age: 19

Illia Zabarnyi is one of the most promising Ukrainian players of the last decade. The CB already plays in the best league in the world, but you can buy him for just €6 million. With 63 acceleration and 68 sprint speed, Zabarnyi has decent pacing.

However, Zabarnyi truly shines because of his 77 jumping, 75 Strength, and 74 stamina. He wins most of his aerial duels, and can also overpower opposing strikers with ease. Zabarnyi is a great CB if you want to build for the future, as he becomes an elite CB in FIFA 23 Career mode.

Alejandro Torrijo (OVR 73 - POT 82)

Team: Real Zaragoza

Position: CB, CDM

Nation: Spain

Age: 19

Alejandro Torrijo is one of the few Spanish wonderkid CBs in FIFA 23, which makes him even more valuable. The previous three CB we mentioned all had pretty good pace attributes. This tendency continues with Torrijo, as the Real Zaragoza player has 76 acceleration, 72 sprint speed, and 69 agility. So, it's very hard for players to outrun him.

Despite not having an incredible defensive awareness, Torrijo is still able to position himself in a good position to stop a counterattack or make a decisive tackle. Having a four-star weak foot also comes in handy, since he will not struggle in passing with his weaker foot when under pressure. His €6 million but price, and 5K wage, make him a player you must buy.

Martin Vitík (OVR 72 - POT 81)

Team: Sparta Praha

Position: CB, CDM

Nation: Czech Republic

Age: 19

With 193 cm and 77 strength, Martin Vitík imposes fear in the hearts of his opponents. The Sparta Praha CB might not be the fastest player in FIFA 23, but with 70 Acceleration and 73 speed, he is still fast for a CB. Vitík 67 short passing, 67 ball control, and 62 long passing means he has a great passing ability for a CB.

His first touch is good, and he can easily find an open teammate with an accurate pass. Vitík also wins the majority of his challenges, mostly thanks to his 71 aggression. Low stamina is his biggest flaw, but the rest of his attributes more than make up for it. The fact Vitík only costs €4.7 million and receives a wage of just €500, makes him an easy and valuable player to acquire.

FIFA 24

The partnership between EA Sports and FIFA is coming to an end, with fans speculating on how that will affect the next instalment of the game. EA Sports FC 24 is expected to be the title of the next edition, and we can expect plenty of changes coming in the licensing department.

FIFA has also already announced they will be creating their own game. The goal is to become the best football game in the industry, which would subsequently dethrone EA Sports.

This can be great for the football video games industry. For the first time in many years, we might actually see EA Sports have some real competition. It will provide fans with more options when it comes to football games. Developers will also be forced to step up their game and deliver a great product.
