FIFA’s original Future Stars - Where are they now?

With the promotional campaign now in full swing in FIFA 23, we're taking a look back at Ultimate Team's original Future Stars and where they are now.

Four years since the promo debuted back in FIFA 19, some of the game's first-ever Future Stars have gone on to do great things, whilst others are nowhere to be seen...

Phil Foden

Four-time Premier League winner Phil Foden is up first.

Arguably world-class and now a regular in the England national team, the 22-year-old has already surpassed the expectations of many.

Should he continue on his current progression, Foden's 85 OVR base card from FIFA 23 will soon be upgraded to resemble his 88 OVR Future Stars item from FIFA 19.

Vinicius Jr

As the highest-rated Future Star in the FIFA 19 promo squad, it's clear EA had incredibly high hopes for Real Madrid youngster Vinicius Jr.

Well, he is more than fulfilling his potential. With two La Liga titles and one Champions League title to his name, the Brazilian is now one of the most valuable players in world football.

Vinicius' FUT 23 Team of the Year Honourable Mentions item is very similar to his FIFA 19 special card.

Houssem Aouar

As a youngster, Houssem Aouar was one of the most sought-after players in Europe, but his career has never really kicked on since then.

Still playing for Ligue 1 side Lyon, the French central-midfielder has plenty of talent which he still hasn't showcased on a regular basis.

Now a 79 OVR non-rare Gold card in FUT 23, Aouar has a lot of work to do if he is to get anywhere near his 89 OVR FIFA 19 Future Stars item.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Already a Liverpool legend, Trent Alexander-Arnold has won everything there is to win at club level at the age of just 24.

One Premier League, one Champions League, one FA Cup, one League Cup, one Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup and a PFA Young Player of the Year award to his name - quite astonishing.

The England international has already received plenty of special cards within Ultimate Team that surpass his FIFA 19 Future Stars item.

Eder Militao

From FIFA 19 Future Stars to FIFA 23 Team of the Year.

Eder Militao is now one of the best centre-halves in Europe and played a key role in Real Madrid's 2022 UEFA Champions League victory.

The Brazilian's real-life attributes make him one of the most overpowered players in Ultimate Team, just as he was back in FIFA 19.

Patrick Cutrone

The less said about this one, the better. Now playing for Como 1907 in the Italian second division, it's fair to say Cutrone's development hasn't gone as planned.

Patrick Cutrone is now a 72 OVR Silver item in FIFA 23, which tells you everything you need to know.

Still only 25 years of age, there's still time for the Italian striker to make a miraculous comeback at the top flight.

Achraf Hakimi

From Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid, to Inter Milan and then to Paris Saint-Germain, Achraf Hakimi has packed a lot into his short career so far.

The 24-year-old is now seen as one of the best full-backs and most valuable assets in the world, having shone for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup.

Like Eder Militao, Hakimi was included in the most recent Team of the Year squad, with an incredible 94 OVR item.
