Throughout December, we will be taking a look back at some of our favourite players from previous FIFA games.

Our advent calendar series won't just provide a sense of great nostalgia for us, but it should also unlock your memories for some of the best OP stars FIFA has ever seen.

Sometimes, it's not Ultimate Team that provides you with memorable FIFA players, but instead, Career Mode that offers a true gem.

Now an established superstar, when I signed him for Ipswich Town in my FIFA 13 Career Mode, he was little more than an unknown wonderkid.

Memphis Depay - FIFA 13

As an Ipswich fan, the Dutch connections have always run deep, and when I signed Memphis Depay for the Tractor Boys in FIFA 13, I once again brought another Dutch hero to Portman Road.

Not only was Depay well-known that year for being an overpowered wonderkid, but he also boasted insane potential.

Rather than waxing lyrical about his majestic performances, I want to recall his achievements in that Career Mode save.

Depay scored 28 goals in his first season, immediately establishing himself as something special.

CERTIFIED WONDERKID - Memphis Depay will always be iconic to Career Mode players

At the end of the first year, he had guided Town to the title and grown 10 overall points.

Now a 78 overall card, Depay guided Ipswich to 6th in the Premier League in their first season back, scoring 31 goals in the process and bagging the golden boot.

Depay went on, in this career mode save, to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League with Ipswich before leaving for Real Madrid for £80 Million at the rather remarkable rating of 88.

He was, and will always be, the best signing I've ever made in a career mode save and for that reason, his FIFA 13 card will always be iconic.

What happened to Memphis Depay?

In a rather remarkable turn of events, Memphis is a FIFA wonderkid that has somewhat lived up to his hype, enjoying successful spells in France and Spain.

After a flopped transfer to Manchester United, Depay joined Lyon where he captained the club to great success, scoring a boatload of goals in the process.

That success earned him a move to Barcelona, where he is today.

Currently performing on the World Cup stage for the Netherlands, Memphis looks set to depart Catalan soon, with a return for one last shot at the Premier League most certainly on the cards.
