Football Manager 2022 Best Assistant Managers: Former LEGENDS you need by your side

Football Manager 2022 has finally arrived, which means it's time to start getting your players and staff ready for a brand new season.

Whilst signing players is fun, your staff can be just as vital, and we've got you covered for the ten best assistant managers you should be recruiting in FM22.

Best Assistant Managers

Tactical assistance from the touchline is key to success, especially if you're a player that likes to delegate tasks.

From Premier League legends to master tacticians, your new right-hand man in Football Manager could well feature on this list.

Guus Hiddink (CA 145 - PA 180)

Age: 74

Club: Curacao (national team)

Wage: £3,500 a week

A serial winner as a manager throughout his career, Hiddink is now looking to step to one side and fulfil his role as an assistant.

The perfect tutor for any young manager coming into the game, Hiddink could be the ideal candidate to help you out in Football Manager 2022.

Roy Keane (CA 120 - PA 150)

Age: 49

Club: Unemployed

Wage: £7,500 a week

Your players may start attending training sessions with crash helmets firmly attached, but there's no doubting that Roy Keane could be an excellent assistant to have on the touchline.

A mixed managerial record has seen Keane slip to the assistant role, but we think taking the Irishman on board could have long-term benefits.

Angelo Peruzzi (CA 156 - PA 168)

A man that has filled many roles during his career, Angelo Peruzzi is a coach with the credentials to be an excellent assistant in Football Manager 2022.

His determination and motivation skills could be key to turning the screw and we think he'd be a great addition to your staff.

Wage: £4,000 a week

An Arsenal and Premier League legend, having Dennis Bergkamp as your assistant seems like a pretty cool proposition.

The Dutchman is a good coach in his own right, using his experience and reputation to help you achieve success in Football Manager 2022.

Club: Manchester United

Wage: £10,000 a week

Mike Phelan will always be known as the man that helped Ferguson accomplish wonders, but he could also be known as the man that helped you achieve great success.

Currently at Manchester United, but with Ole stumbling at the wheel, we believe Phelan would be a great acquisition for any manager.

Zsolt Low (CA 150 - PA 160)

Age: 42

Club: Chelsea

Wage: £30,000 a week

The current assistant manager at Chelsea, helping Tuchel achieve great things, it may seem unlikely that these two will part.

However, the Stamford Bridge club has a history of being trigger happy, which means you could swoop in and bring Low into your coaching staff.

Mauro Biancardini (CA 158 - PA 170)

Age: 57

Club: Zebre

Wage: £18,250 a week

Another coach currently in a job, it may be difficult to prize Biancardini away from his beloved Juventus, or Zebre as they're known in FM22.

However, the lure of the right job and the offer of a high wage could be too good for this smart tactician to turn down.

Juan Manuel Lillo (CA 145 - PA 150)

Club: Manchester City

Wage: £35,000 a week

Pep's trusted advisor with years of experience and shed loads of silverware, Juan Manuel Lillo may just be the best assistant manager in Football Manager 2022.

With Pep ready to walk away from City and take some time off in 2023, could you bring Lillo in and allow him to turn your team into world-beaters?
