Football Manager 2024 is almost here and we have had some big announcements so far. From improved AI transfers to trickier finances, FM24 will look to immerse players in the world of running a football club.
One of the things players have longed for over the years is the addition of the Japanese football pyramid. The J League is the biggest league in the world that FM does not have a license for. But that is no longer true!
Football Manager 2024 announces J League
Sports Interactive started their game cycle by confirming it would have the Japanese language as an option in the game. They even set up a Japanese Football Manager Twitter account, @fm_japan where they will look to build a bigger Japanese fan base.
This all led to speculation that FM24 would include the J League, and now it is official. As confirmed by SI today, the J League is in FM24!
Japanese football has been on the rise recently especially in club football as Kaoru Mitoma sets the Premier League alight. It's also been a great stepping stone for managers, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou coached at Yokohama F. Marinos and bought players like Kyogo, Maeda, and Hatate to the Scottish Premiership with Celtic.
The addition of the J League includes J2 and J3, giving you 60 clubs over three tiers to play with.
Will the Japan National Team be in Football Manager 2024?
This is still unclear. Football Manager's announcement made no mention of the national team.
Japan had a great World Cup 2022 topping Group E with six points ahead of Spain, Germany, and Costa Rica.
We predict that the Japan National Team will be fully licensed in the game, but it is odd that it hasn't been mentioned yet. We hope this isn't another Germany situation where the game locks that option from you.
As of the latest news, we only know that Football Manager 2024 will be available in Japan on 7 November 2023.
