Will Fortnite Shut Down in 2022?

For those fans worrying about the future of Fortnite, there doesn't seem like there is any foundation for these claims and with how successful Fortnite continues to be with Chapter 3, Season 4 underway. In fact, all signs point toward the fact that the game is going to be around for a very long time.

The question remains, however, where did this speculation come from? Well, that seems to be a complicated answer.

From our best guesses, the rumours of Fortnite shutting down seem to be stemming from a few different sources happening at once, all of which cause confusion among fans.

The first, and main reason for this confusion stem from the end of Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 in the coming weeks. With Epic having taken quite a while to acknowledge the existence and plans for Fortnite Season 4, fans understandably got a little nervous. The truth is, Epic is always a little relaxed about seasonal changes and confirmation/teases only ever tend to happen about one week out from launch.

The second and weird reason for this confusion seems to relate to the billionaire and owner of Tesla, Elon Musk. Yes, it's just as confusing as it sounds.

A tweet from 2018 where Musk shared a fake headline about him buying and closing Fortnite has been recirculated a lot as of late, further leading to the confusion about the game's future (or lack thereof according to these rumours).

Fans should feel at ease, however, as unless Epic suddenly have a drastic change in business plans, Fortnite is going nowhere.
