Genshin Impact 1.2 is right around the corner, bringing new characters, a seasonal event, and a new biome which will see the map expanded for the first time since its release.

Downtime began at 10pm GMT and is available to install now.
The update is 3.37GB on PC, so very reasonable considering the amount of content in it.
The Chalk Prince and the Dragon Trailer
Ahead of the upcoming 1.2 update, miHoYo have released the official trailer for The Chalk Prince and the Dragon, the event that will take place during the 1.2 update.
In the trailer we get our first look of the new Dragonspine biome in-game and what to expect from it.
As well as seeing the new character, Albedo and Ganyu, in action.
The trailer is narrated by Albedo who says, "Was the two of us meeting really a good thing?"
It doesn't hint at who Albedo is talking about, but there are a few possibilities.
First, is Albedo talking about Ganyu and that them meeting each other may have led to chaos and harm being brought upon either themselves or their team mates.
Or he could be referring to the dragon, since the event is titled "The Chalk Prince (Albedo) and the Dragon."
Could the showdown between Albedo and the dragon cause huge ramifications to the Genshin Impact world and its inhabitants?
Release Date
miHoYo have confirmed that the 1.2 update will be arriving on December 23rd.
Downtime begins at 6am GMT+8, which is 5pm ET/10pm GMT on December 22nd.
It is expected that downtime will last for five hours, meaning players should be able to jump back in at 10pm ET/3am GMT.
Dragonspine
Dragonspine is a new snow and ice biome which will feature new fortresses and areas to explore, as well as new items to collect and craft.
In the post miHoYo let fans know what to expect with the new update:
"Dragonspine is a frozen mountain range in the south of Mondstadt that few dare to set foot in."
"All Travelers will be able to explore a brand-new immersive environment full of new creatures, mysteries, treasures, and dangers to discover. Whether you choose to investigate the area with Mondstadt’s genius alchemist, Albedo during the upcoming seasonal event, explore the mountain for yourself and discover every inch of the mountains and the secrets they hold, or simply hone your survival skills in this beautiful but brutal environment, Dragonspine has something to offer for every intrepid explorer."
New Characters
Two new five-star characters will be coming in the 1.2 update, Albedo and Ganyu.
These characters will be featured in the seasonal event questline.
"Albedo is a young yet legendary genius alchemist in Mondstadt, wielding a sword and the power of geo."
"Ganyu is a half human, half-adeptus Cyro archer who serves as an emissary and secretary for the Liyue Qixing."
