Genshin Impact 1.5 Closed Beta canceled due to leaks

It was not long after Genshin Impact 1.4's release that Genshin Impact 1.5 leaks started popping up around the internet.

Most of these leaks came from Genshin Impact's 1.5 Beta testers breaking their NDA, while others came from dataminers pouring through the new code and releasing their finds.

Several new characters were revealed, as well as some upcoming new functionality, such as player housing.

Initially, miHoYo allowed Genshin Impact players to apply for the chance to help test Genshin Impact 1.5's closed beta.

Part of being chosen to play the beta meant that players had to sign a Nondisclosure Agreement or NDA.

The NDA is a binding legal contract that, on the most simple level, means that players can not talk about any information from the Genshin Impact 1.5 beta.

Prominent Genshin Impact leaker, Seewlie, tweeted how the 1.5 beta would be canceled due to all the leaks surrounding the latest code.

Cracking Down on Leaks

On March 17, not long after Genshin Impact 1.4's release, miHoYo released the following tweets:

While many community players feel they deserve to know information about future characters and items so they can better save their Wishes and resources, the release of such information is more likely to confuse casual players as it is often incorrect and still in testing.

This happened previously before the release on Zhongli.

Players were outraged at information released about the character.

This information was incorrect, leading to players becoming even more infuriated when the character was not as powerful as they were led to believe from the leaks.

It is hard to tell what effect these previous leaks, and miHoYo's statement, will have on Genshin Impact 1.5.

It may be that players will still see the leaked content, or it may be that miHoYo holds off on releasing the characters and features leaked or changing them in ways to surprise players better once the update drops.
