Genshin Impact 2.8, the last update before the arrival of Sumeru, will be the opportunity to see some welcomed faces in its character banners.
The patch will be packed with only reruns when it comes to 5-stars, but version 2.8 will also be the debut of the new 4-star character Shikanoin Heizou.

Release Date
Genshin Impact 2.8 is expected to go live on July 13, 2022, running until August 24, 2022.
Every Genshin Impact update runs a six-week cycle, divided into two phases. With that, we'll see a set of Banners on the update's launch and another after three weeks.

Kazuha Returns
We think the biggest news about banners in version 2.8 is the imminent rerun of Kaedehera Kazuha.
The 5-star Anemo sword user is one of the strongest characters in the game, however, it has been almost a year since the last time he was featured in a banner.
Shikanoin Heizou being an Anemo is most likely to be part of the 4-star characters in Kazuha's Banner. The only new character in Genshin Impact 2.8 is the 4-star Anemo Catalyst user Shikanoin Heizou.
More reruns in Genshin Impact 2.8
While the Kazuha rerun in version 2.8 is evident, as we are getting a new story quest and Kaedehera is part of the main story quest, for the rest of the Genshin Impact 2.8 banners and their characters, we must lean on rumors and speculation.
It has been 11 months since Klee was last part of a banner, as the last time we see this tiny pyromaniac was in June 2021 in version 1.6. It only makes sense that 2.8 will see her return.
Another character waiting for a rerun is Yoimiya, the only Inazuma character besides Kazuha without a rerun yet.
During the Idodori Festival in Genshin Impact 2.6, we saw Yoimiya and Klee bonding. So, it wouldn't be a surprise that they even feature in banners at the same time, especially as Klee and Yoimiya are also part of the upcoming Genshin Impact 2.8 events.

So far, we don't have information about the release of a new 5-star weapon in Genshin Impact 2.8. With this, it's likely we'll see the rerun of the Freedom-Sworn sword.
