Genshin Impact 2.8 Preload is LIVE
The Genshin Impact 2.8 preload option is live now, and it will be available until the beginning of the Server Maintenance.

Genshin Impact 2.8 Maintenance Schedule
Genshin Impact servers will go under maintenance for Genshin Impact 2.8 on July 13, 2022, at 6:00 am at server time (Chinese Standard Time).
In other time zones, Genshin Impact servers will go down at:
- July 12, 2022, 2:00 pm PST
- July 12, 2022, 5:00 pm EST
- July 12, 2022, 10:00 pm GMT
This downtime will last for around 5 hours, and players will receive compensatory Primogems for the time they are not able to play.
Travelers will obtain a minimum of 300 Primogems. Additionally, Hoyoverse will give 300 Primogems as compensation for all the bug fixes found in the previous update as well.
Genshin Impact 2.8 Release Date & Time
Genshin Impact 2.8 will go live on July 13, 2022, at 11:00 am Server Time.
This breaks down to the following:
- July 12, 7:00 p.m. PDT
- July 12, 10:00 p.m. EST
- July 12, 4:00 a.m. GMT
The server's maintenance will take around five hours, with players being compensated 300 Primogems for the downtime.
How to Preload Genshin Impact 2.8
New to preloading Genshin Impact updates ahead of time? No worries, we have you covered.
PC
On PC, you have to boot up the game launcher and click on the "Game Pre-Installation" option on the screen.
After this, the game update should automatically install. Travelers can still play while preloading game resources.
Preloading will take up a certain amount of your network's bandwidth, so it's best to make sure you have a good network connection.
Mobile
Mobile players need to log in to their accounts and go to the "Paimon Menu." Go to settings, then click "Pre-Install Resource Package."
If this doesn't work, you may spot the package on the main menu after logging in. Just click on it to get everything installed.
Travelers on Mobile cannot play the game while downloading resources, so it's best to start the process when you're taking a break or overnight.
PlayStation
Unfortunately for Playstation travelers, there is no option to preload the Genshin Impact 2.7 update just yet. We'll update if that changes ahead of launch day.
The Playstation console downloads the entire game again to ensure there are no corrupt files. Therefore, to play Genshin Impact 2.7, Playstation players need to download around 35 GB worth of content first.
Genshin Impact 2.8 File Size
It seems Genshin Impact 2.8's file size is considerably bigger than previous updates, so be prepared to make some space just in case. According to reports, the Genshin Impact 2.8 file size is around 10.8 GB for PC players.
For mobile players, the IOS file size will be around 2.4 GB, and 2.31 GB for Android.

How to Remove Voice-Over Files
Voice-Over files are the dialogues of characters during cut scenes, they can save some GB, and you can install them again if you change your mind.
- Open the in-game Settings menu and head over to the Language section.
- Inside the Language section, players will need to select the Manage Voice-Over Files option.
- Remove the voice-over files for the specific languages you don't need.
