Genshin Impact's PS5 release is finally here

It's time to go next-gen, Travelers! Genshin Impact is coming to PS5 consoles with a native port and we have everything you need to know about that and the Version 1.5 Update.

LATEST - Update Release Time

The team behind Genshin Impact, miHoYo, has confirmed the release time for the upcoming version 1.5 patch in a recent blog post.

The update is due to release at 06:00 UTC+8 on April 28th. This means it will start at 18:00 EST / 23:00 BST.

In a similar fashion to the other major Genshin Impact title updates of this size, downtime is going to be pretty major. miHoYo is estimating that it will take around five hours, meaning that Genshin Impact 1.5 will not be available until 23:00 EST / 04:00 BST (April 28).

If you're just seeing this now, too, you can actually pre-load the update right now! This will save you some time in the morning if you're planning on just giving Genshin a break while it gets updated.

PS5 Release Date Confirmed

It has been confirmed that the PS5 version of Genshin Impact will be released on the same day as the 1.5 update, April 28th.

This new version will feature up to 4K resolution, new graphic details, and near-instant loading times, thanks to the PS5's NVME SSD.

PS5 Native Genshin Impact

The PS5 native port of Genshin Impact was just announced a few hours ago via the @PlayStation Twitter account, touting enhanced visuals, faster loading times, and DualSense controllers support.

While Genshin Impact is already available on the PS5 with cross-play support between consoles, mobile, and PC, this new port will be optimized exclusively for the PS5 and not just the PS5 running the PS5 version.

While there is no official date announced, Sony stated that Genshin Impact will hit the PS5 in the spring.

Will Familiar Faces Return?

The trailer itself is interesting as it features Albedo, Klee, and Diona. Albedo and Klee are both limited Event Banner characters who Genshin Fans eagerly await to return.

KLEE: Will the littlest bomber return soon?

With the return of both Venti and Chile in Genshin Impact 1.4, and the rumor of Zhongli's return in 1.5, could this trailer hint at Albedo and Klee's inevitable return sooner rather than later?

Then there is Diona's voice line, "Hey, do you think there are any exotic plants on Dragonspine?"

Are players in for another adventure set in Dragonspine?

If so, what else may be in store?

The tail end of the trailer focuses on a battle with the Primo Geovishap.

Could these be hints of events coming to the 2nd half of Genshin 1.5, or possibly 1.6?

Considering the release of the native PS5 version of Genshin Impact is slated to launch in the spring, the former seems most likely.

Of course, it could all just be wishful thinking, with the trailer just being a cute way of showing off areas and bosses that may benefit from the additional power of Sony's latest console.
