Shortly after the new GOAT-themed reveal trailer was posted, we got a new possible leak that could tell us who will be on this year's cover.

According to this report by Dov Kleiman, both Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady were spotted in a photo shoot which is believed to have been for the Madden 22 cover.

Cover Athlete Reveal Teaser Trailer

It's the first official reveal or teaser trailer for Madden 22, and EA Sports decided to lean heavy on the "GOAT" imagery.

There's been heavy speculation that the choice to feature two goats in the video, and include the goat emoji in the text of the tweet twice, are a sign there will be two cover stars this year.

While that's still unclear and unofficial, it does line up with comments by EA CEO Andrew Wilson that the Madden 22 cover would be "a little different" than previous years.

Madden 22 Release Date, Platforms & Editions

As of now, there is no official release date for Madden 22, but the most likely time to expect the game based on previous years is likely August 20, 2021 or August 27, 2021.

We should get some news on June 17, 2021, which was the date featured in the potential cover athlete reveal teaser, but we don't know for sure what all will be announced on that day.

We don't have official word about platforms or editions, but previous years saw a Standard and MVP Edition of Madden, with the latter including extra bonuses for Ultimate Team.

As of now, Madden 22 is expected to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Stadia, which are the same platforms that Madden 21 was released on.

It's an unlikely choice, as it would make them both the only NFL athletes to be on two different Madden covers, but it would match up with their battle from Super Bowl LV.

Derrick Henry

The final name who is still worth considering for the Madden 22 cover athlete is Derrick Henry, who was supposedly leaked as the pick via a tweet back in February.

As the weeks have gone on that leak has looked less and less likely, but that doesn't mean Henry isn't still in the running, and it would still be a great call to make him the face of Madden 22.
