First announced back in July 2021, GOALS is a new free-to-play football game set for release in the next year or so, with the aim to compete with the likes of FIFA (or EA Sports FC 24) and eFootball.

The latest footballing sim is hoping to transform the market and will be doing so with the help of the same engine which is used to power Fortnite - Unreal Engine 5!

Check out all the latest details about GOALS on Unreal Engine 5 below.

GOALS on Unreal Engine 5

As confirmed by the GOALS official Twitter page, the new football game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The first playtest of GOALS since the game was upgraded to Unreal Engine 5 has already taken place.

This news was announced via a reply from the official account to a GOALS playtest video, stating "Yes, we are building GOALS on Unreal Engine 5".

NEXT LEVEL - Expect GOALS to be visually captivating

Unreal Engine is one of the most widely used video game engines in the world, second only to Unity, and is known for its depth of features and visual quality.

Unreal Engine 5 augments those strengths, giving its users hyper-intricate 3D detail, facial realism, and large-scale world-building.

So, we can expect GOALS to be taken to the next level on Unreal Engine 5, both in graphics and in-game features.

GOALS Release Date

GOALS is currently in the pre-alpha stage, with the game having only been announced on 22 July, 2021.

There’s no confirmed release date as of yet, but a release window has been confirmed, with the full launch hoping to be coming within "the next two years".

SIT TIGHT - We're still waiting for an official release date

We now know that the game will likely be competing with the second instalment in the EA Sports FC franchise, a game about which we currently know very little.

What we do know, however, is that crossplay will be a big feature for GOALS, with the game able to be played on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Despite having not been officially confirmed, we think it's pretty safe to say that GOALS will be made available on both previous Gen and Next Gen consoles.
