Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Lineup advice for June 7, 2018

Thursday's action gets underway early as the Reds, Pirates, Twins, and Cardinals all host lunchtime starts today, so you better get your lineups set early as the 12:35pm ET starting, 10-game, contest is the only one of real note on DraftKings today. Who should be in your lineups though?

Gerrit Cole @ Texas Rangers ($14,000)

Cole is the run-away ace today. While he hasn't broken the 30-point barrier for a while, he is coming off the back of a 24.2-point start against the heavy-hitting Boston Red Sox. When you can keep that lineup under control and register 20+ then you are an easy pick for any lineup. The only issue is the price. $14k is a mammoth price tag and you will have to save elsewhere if you do select him.

Jose Berrios Vs. Chicago White Sox ($10,600)

At a much more reasonable price is Twins pitcher Jose Berrios. With a 3.86 ERA he is far less interesting than Cole, but he is also a lot cheaper. Berrios' strength is a 0.95 WHIP thanks to a low walk rate. He's also striking out hitters at good rate, nearly one per inning, and hasn't had a major blowup in a while. He's registered at least seven K's in each of his last four starts, and the White Sox offense is one of the least effective in the Majors. This should be a safe start for Berrios, and at a good price point too.

Jameson Taillon Vs. Los Angeles Dodgers ($8,100)

Taillon is coming into this game off his best start of the season last time out. He tossed eight shutout innings against a strong Cardinals team while allowing just three hits and a walk and picking up six strikeouts. It was enough for 31.6 points, and slashed more than half a run off his ERA.

Taillon's season has been a bit of a rollercoaster, but on his day he can take it to any lineup. The Dodgers are not a great offense right now with Corey Seager out and Justin Turner struggling. This is a good chance for a strong points haul.

Nolan Arenado @ Cincinnati Reds ($5,400)

Arenado continues to play like an MVP at the hot corner for the Rockies. Right now he is hitting .325 for the season (and .350 in his last 10 games) with 12 homers, four of which have come in the last two weeks. He is a monster and well worth the investment if you want a star at the plate today.

Jean Segura @ Tampa Bay Rays ($4,600)

Segura is picking up points in a variety of different ways this season. He has 13 steals, five homers, 39 RBI, and a .339 batting average. All of that makes for a pretty robust fantasy player. In his last 10 games he has 18 hits, 11 runs, and five extra-base hits. He's been a strong play for a lot of the season, and that continues today as he is only the fifth-most expensive shortstop.

Derek Dietrich @ St. Louis Cardinals ($3,400)

While the Marlins offense is a bit of a black hole this season, that doesn't mean that certain players can't get hot and right now Derek Dietrich is hot. He is hitting .444 over the last 10 games, has three homers in the last two weeks, and is a threat for double-digit points every day at the moment. At this price he is tough to pass up.
