Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Lineup advice for September 12, 2017

Today’s slate has a veritable gold mine of pitching available. From MVPs to Cy Young winners to very good #2 pitchers, there is a cavalcade of quality arms taking the mound today. You can only start two though, so who should you take?

Best DFS MLB Pitchers for September 12, 2017

You can’t play both Corey Kluber ($13,300) and Clayton Kershaw ($13,000) and still afford a solid lineup, but obviously both are likely to be very good options today. If you do take one though, who should you pair them with?

Sonny Gray @ Tampa Bay Rays: $9,600 DraftKings, FPPG - 18.2

The Rays are second in the Majors in strikeouts, they are also seventh in the Majors in homers and 25th in runs scored. They won’t score much, but they will score in bunches, which makes them a dangerous opponent to predict.

However, I’m going with Sonny Gray because since his June 25 start against the White Sox he has allowed more than two earned runs just once. Once in 13 starts, which includes a July 19 start of 6.1 innings and six strikeouts against these Rays.

Lance Lynn vs Cincinnati Reds: $8,400 DraftKings, FPPG - 16.1

Lynn has been in fine form in recent weeks, bringing his ERA below three for the first time since mid-June. Starting with a strong outing against Tampa, he then cut through the Giants and Padres. “They are not good!” I hear you cry, and neither are the Reds.

Taijuan Walker vs Colorado Rockies: $7,500 DraftKings, FPPG - 15.9

Walker is one of the most dependable pitchers in the Majors. In the last four starts, he has an ERA of 0.79 and a 3-0 record. He has taken down the Rockies and Dodgers in his last two starts, and thanks to the impressive slate of pitchers his price is depressed from where it should be. He’s $1,300 cheaper than when he faced the Dodgers last time. Start with confidence.

Best DFS Hitters for September 12, 2017

Now that we have saved some money to splash on Giancarlo Stanton ($5,700) or Trea Turner ($5,400) what other hitters should we be looking to get into our lineup?

Carlos Correa @ Los Angeles Angels: $4,400 DraftKings, FPPG - 9.7

Correa has slashed just .182/.229/.212 since he returned from his thumb injury on September 3, but he is very cheap for a man of his talents and has also stolen a pair of bases since he got back on the diamond. He’s risky, but he’s also a very good player who could click at any moment.

Mike Moustakas vs Chicago White Sox: $3,900 DraftKings, FPPG - 8.2

Moustakas only has three extra base hits and three RBI so far in September, but he is slashing .281/.378/.438, which is very nice. He’s also going against rookie Dylan Covey, who has an 8.08 ERA.

Jonathan Schoop @ Toronto Blue Jays: $3,800 DraftKings, FPPG - 8.8

Schoop’s September hasn’t been overly good so far, slashing .256/.273/.395 with four 0-for-4 performances, including three in his last four games. However, he’s got 31 homers and 103 RBI on the season at a light-hitting position. He is far more likely than anyone else at this price point to really take off.
