It doesn't stop there, with MLB The Show 21 being the first release on Next Gen consoles - PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Gameplay

As for in-game details, the team at The Show have remained tight-lipped, but what we have had so far is the ability to take your Ballplayer into Diamond Dynasty.

This means you can gain XP and improve your player in both Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty, ensuring you can rank up quicker than ever before!

THE STAGE IS YOURS - Take your Ballplayer into other Game Modes

On the subject of your Ballplayer, there's greater customisation this year - and you can turn your created superstar into a proper two-way player.

New in MLB The Show 21 are gameplay styles that allow you to tailor the type of gameplay experience you are looking for at any given moment - you can make the game as realistic or arcadey as you would like.

The Show team has also developed fly ball catches, at the wall catches and catches that come off the z-axis (snaffling catches off your direct running route).

For pitching, a new mechanic is arriving, with more details to come on that front.

Is MLB The Show 21 worth buying?

For The Show loyalists, you're going to struggle to resist this year's offering, and if you've got a Next Gen console - we wouldn't be surprised if you've pre-ordered already.

For the rest, we suggest holding off until San Diego Studio reveals more, with regular updated arriving in March.

MLB The Show 21 arrives on Tuesday, 20 April on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

You can pre-order the game direct from the PlayStation Store here - or the Microsoft Store here.
