NBA 2K19: 1995-1996 Seattle Supersonics Player Ratings and Roster

Long before changing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Seattle franchise had some good memories out west. This particular season had them finishing with a western conference best record of 64-18 and advancing to the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, they lost to the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls, 2-4.

Starting Lineup

Gary Payton, PG (OVR 94)

Age: 27

Height: 6’4” 

Traits: Two-Way Star

Best Stats: Steals, Lateral Quickness, Stamina

Payton was the engine that made this team flow. As a two-way star, Gary was impactful on both ends of the court. Behind averages of 19.3 points, 7.5 assists and 2.9 steals per game, it’s easy to see how valuable he was to this team.

Hersey Hawkins, SG (OVR 78)

Age: 29

Height: 6’3”

Traits: Sharpshooter

Best Stats: Mid-Range, 3PT, Steals

Hawkins was the main perimeter threat for this team. He averaged 15.6 points and 1.8 3-pointers made per game. On defense, he was able to chip in with 1.8 steals per game as well. He played in every game this season and was as reliable as they come.

Detlef Schrempf, SF (OVR 83)

Age: 33

Height: 6’9”

Traits: Offensive-Minded Wing

Best Stats: 3PT, Stamina, Mid-Range

Detlef was not able to play the full season and missed about a quarter of the games, but was a valuable scoring option when on the court. Averaging 17.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, Schrempf found multiple ways to contribute on offense.

Shawn Kemp, PF (OVR 88)

Age: 26

Height: 6’10”

Traits: Athletic Finisher

Best Stats: Vertical, Rebounding, Dunks

Kemp was the number 2 man on this squad and was quite the stud in his own rights. Shawn Kemp was known for his vertical and powerful dunks. He averaged 19.6 points, 11.4 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.

Sam Perkins, PF (OVR 76)

Age: 35

Height: 6’9”

Traits: Faceup Four

Best Stats: 3PT, Strength, Layups

At his old age, it was quite impressive that Perkins was able to play in every regular season game while averaging 26.5 minutes a night. He served the role of a floor-spreading big, with averages of 11.8 points, 1.6 3-pointers made and 4.5 rebounds per game.
