After completing our first-round NBA Playoffs simulation of the Eastern Conference. We decided to do the Western Conference as well.
There were a few shocking outcomes this time, but we'll cover that below. We also are doing live coverage of the NBA Playoffs here.
Let's go over our simulation of the first round in NBA 2K22.
NBA Playoffs Sim in NBA 2K22
The Western Conference is full of incredible teams and we got to see them in action during our NBA Playoffs simulation in NBA 2K22.
With four incredible matchups, we saw an upset and a few games where the favored team ran away with the series. We'll cover each of the matchups below.
The No.1 seed Phoenix Suns and the No.8 seed New Orleans Pelicans are where we'll begin our journey through the NBA Playoffs.
Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Pelicans
The Suns faced off against the Pelicans to kick off the opening round of the NBA playoffs. The Suns turned this into a quick 4-1 series win.
Devin Booker and Chris Paul were the leaders of the team with Booker scoring 35 points in Game 5 and averaged 26.3 points per game during the series.
C.J. McCollum did his best to get wins for the Pelicans, scoring 37 points in the final game of the series. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for New Orleans.
The Phoenix Suns will move on to the next round of the NBA Playoffs.
Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz
The Mavericks found themselves in the same unfortunate situation as the New Orleans Pelicans. They came in as the hire seed in the NBA Playoffs but lost 4-1.
The main reason for them losing the series was due to Luka Doncic being out. The Utah Jazz quickly gained momentum and the Mavericks couldn't keep up.
It shouldn't be much of a shock that Donovan Mitchell was the reason behind the Jazz performing so well. He averaged 25.8 points per game during the NBA Playoffs opening round.
The Jazz will head to Phoenix to start the next series of our NBA 2K22 simulation.
Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets
This was a game that we thought would go to seven games, but it actually ended in six. The Warriors walked away with a 4-2 series win.
Although Jokic performed well throughout the NBA Playoffs, the shooting of Golden State and players like Jordan Poole was too much.
Stephen Curry was another main reason for the success of the Warriors in this series. We actually limited his NBA 2K22 minutes due to the fact that he's on limited minutes in real life as well.
Still, Curry, Poole, and Draymond Green led the Warriors to a 4-2 series win.
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
The last game of this NBA Playoffs simulation pitted the Memphis Grizzlies against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves were able to steal two games from the Grizzlies, but then lost four games in a row, a surprising outcome to be sure.
A battle between Ja Morant and Anthony Edwards ensued over the course of six games, with Morant pushing his team to the next round. In Game 3, where the tides turned in Memphis' favor, Morant scored 45 points.
The Grizzlies will face the Warriors in our next NBA 2K22 NBA Playoffs simulation.
