Bayern Munich 1-2 Real Madrid: 5 things we learned

It's a familiar story for Bayern Munich.

Just like last season, they took a 1-0 lead in the first leg of their knockout tie against Real Madrid. The opening goal coming from Joshua Kimmich, who had free reign to cut inside from the wing and put his cross-cum-shot beyond Keylor Navas. 

Yet again, they squandered their lead and gave themselves a mammoth task in the return leg at The Bernabeu. Marcelo got the equaliser before half-time with a brilliant shot from the edge of the area, and second-half substitute Marco Asensio capitalised on a sloppy error from Rafinha who cheaply gave the ball away on the half-way line and allowed Madrid to a two-on-one counter.

Bayern Munich pushed but were unable to break through.
