Denmark 1-1 Australia: 5 things we learned as the Socceroos stay alive

After a lightning start from Denmark, Christian Eriksen fired home a seventh-minute opener as the Danes looked to punish some lax Australian defending.

The second goal didn't materialise as the Socceroos grew into the game, carving out opportunities mainly from set pieces.

Australia pegged back the favourites just before the break when Yussuf Poulsen was alleged to have deliberately handled the ball inside the Danish box. This was, again, a result of a VAR referral, with the contentious decision still splitting opinion after a replay was shown.

Jedinak slotted home the penalty to level the scores at 1-1, which it remained until full-time after a forgettable second half.
