There’s much to hate about football’s transfer window. 

It’s a rigmarole for everybody, form the tired hacks recycling old news to the cock-eyed superfans clamouring for their club to announce the latest saviour.

Sometimes the investments go awry. Sometimes, however, even a grotesque transfer fee is made to look reasonable by the dazzling performances of a shiny acquisition.
